Fingerpoke/Foley was one moment. The Pepper saga lasted what, 6 weeks? We saw a dog supposedly eaten, and then one of the worst matches ever. That wins.

I would have given it to the Parents' Television Council for their anti-wrestling crusade and campaign of misinformation. If I had to choose something on-screen, I'd probably go with Big Show's dad dies.
I have to go with the Fingerpoke even though it is a higly competitive year for crap. The Fingerpoke is the only one that still angers me. Don't get me started on that whole episode.
Beaver Cleavage/Chaz/Headbangers reuniting and wearing fuzzy boobs
How about Chaz' post-Cleavage singles run where he wrestled in his underwear and had ear-piercingly bad music-and, of course, had the domestic violence angle.
The funniest thing ever in wrestling was the bossman and paul wight angle. The poem, the casket, the whole talk with his "mom". "Hey Paul Wight! Your a nasty bastard!!

I voted for the death of Big Show's dad just for the sheer unintentional hilarity of it all. It cracks me up just watching clips from that storyline, especially at the funeral when Bossman drags the casket and Show just clinging on to it as the cop car drives away. Tasteless but it was sooooo over the top. Probably would not have won the Gooker, but I'd also nominate Bart Gunn vs Butterbean at Wrestlemania 15 that stemmed from the already inducted Brawl For All. Outside of Gorilla Monsoon's final appearance and the awesome ovation he received, I fast forward through that match all the time. Plus, it made pro wrestlers look inferior.
With deep regrets and tears that are soaked I'm sorry to hear your dad finally croaked He lived a full life on his own terms Soon he'll be buried and eaten by worms But if I could have a son as stupid as you I'd have wished for cancer so I would die too So be brave, and be strong, get your life back on track 'Cause the old bastard's dead and he ain't never comin' back!

If I remember correctly, that angle also ended with Thrasher being revealed as the man behind GTV, which could almost be considered Wrestlecrap unto itself.

In my opinion...The Fingerpoke of Doom deserves the Gooker of the Year of 1999. And for many reasons.
1. The match was nothing but the commentators talked about the whole show.
2. It spoiled the ending of Rock/Mankind. Which backfired with everyone switching over to WWF.
3. The Match finally happened..Schiavonie ironically says "This is what wrestling..this is what World Championship Wrestling is all about!" Hogan poked Nash with his index finger. Nash goes down as if he was blasted by a Shotgun. Hogan pins him for the 3.
4. Hogan is Champion...AGAIN.
5. Both factions reunite when months ago they were killing eachother.
6. By this time the WCW fans were bored and sick and tired of the nWo and wanted the angle to just end already. This only restarted the whole group as whole. Goldberg was their beacon of hope as someone new to get behind.
7. Goldberg who was arrested earlier for stalking Miss Liz breaks out of jail...which was right across the street the whole time.
8. Goldberg gets mauled by the nWo. He never again sees the main event light...or the WCW Title.
9. After they reunite..the nWo midcard jabroni's feud with....eachother. Hogan pretty much tells any random member they are the leader. Months later Stevie Ray leaves the nWo to patch things up with his brother Booker T and reforms Harlem Heat. Vincent leaves the group to join the growing heel faction The West Texas Rednecks. The nWo quietly disbands..making their reunion useless.
10. WCW never recovered from the Fingerpoke as the ratings tank. WWF continues to dominate WCW in ratings. WWF builds new superstars while WCW relies on old relics from the past, completely shafting the younger talent.
And that is why the angle deserves the Gooker of the year award.
when did the hour of Nitro with no wrestling happened ?
The hour of Nitro with no wrestling happened during the first hour of the 3/8/1999 show. Not only was there no wrestling the only things that were live during that hour was the Nitro Party. Here is a recap I wrote last year on that part of that particular episode.
Nitro opened with footage of the cage Hogan and Flair will meet in at Uncensord being welded together complete with barbed wire on top
A replay of a conversation Arn Anderson had with Ric Flair on Thunder played
Footage of WCW Campus Clash at Brown University. It has the usual Climbing walls, inflatable obstacle courses, bungee runs, a tug of war game is played with the losers falling in a ball pit.
Following that we go to a Nitro Party with Ricky Rachman
A special look at one of the Nitro girls (Spice) is shown
An nWo piece plays where Hogan says he hates his father. He then says David Flair made the right choice by aligning himself with the nWo. He also says that if Flair wins he becomes president of WCW for life.
We go back to the Nitro party where Konnan is there now hyping up his music video
Konnan's music video plays
After Koonan's video is played we get another segment where Nash and Hogan are watching Flair's announcement of the cage match for Uncensored
A video hyping Lex Lugar plays
Scott Stiener and Buff Bagwell are seen getting pulled over by the police. Rather than going to jail they have to help the police out by writing people tickets.
More of the Nitro party is seen
A recap of Misterio beating Nash is shown
Hogan and Nash are seen going into a shooting range after talking to the owner they go back to the actual target range where Torrie Wilson is seen shooting
Hogan Nash and Torrie are seen eating dinner talking about a way to trap David
Everyone of the things mentioned above aired in the first hour of Nitro back to back. The end result saw nothing live from the arena no announcers, in-ring promos, nothing for the first 59 minutes had it not been for the Nitro party nothing live would have been seen live at all
But it gets even worse after the hour ended the very first thing that was live at the arena was an in-ring promo. The first match was 72 minutes into the show and lasted four minutes before ending in a no contest. Also all the stuff that happened during that first hour was never mentioned throughout the rest of the show or ever again actually.
