I wouldn't really call it a rehash. It did have some callbacks to it like Buddy bumming the sitting down pose but overall it was kind of less the psychological back-and-forth those two had and more just beating the hell out of each other. Yea, i'm watching this Sounds like a Takeover match. A story was told and they hit the buttons they needed to hit and of course both guys are money in the ring Also Aleister had a raging boner and was wearing pea green trunks for some reason.

The match also showed that while you don't necessarily NEED blood to have a cool match, it can still really add to one.

So, so good. I want this to lead to a badass respect thing. RVD/Jerry Lynn basically.
Also, look how well Black works in his element. Just let dude be a wrestler. End this "Come and knock on my door" Three's Company shit.

End this "Come and knock on my door" Three's Company shit. I enjoy Black's matches because there's usually an intensity to them that most other matches lack. They feel like straight up fights. And even though there are a bunch of guys with kicks and knee strikes in their movesets, I feel his still look the best. He's a guy who could probably coast on his presence and in ring abilities alone, which is why these promos have always felt so unnecessary.

Which is funny because just about every Goldberg match started by someone knocking on a door.

No joke, when Aleister rolled into the ring and did that sit down and Murphy was already there with just the most pissed off glare on his face, I marked out and I knew that it was going to be awesome!
Is Buddy still 'The Best Kept Secret' if everyone knows how f***ing amazing he is?

I LOVED THIS MATCH. Physical, told a great story and both guys came out looking good after it was all over.
I wish they'd get the US Title off Mysterio and onto Murphy or Black. You'd have an excellent US Title scene with Aleister, Andrade, Murphy, Humberto, Ricochet and McIntyre, then you could have a world title tier that includes Seth, Owens, Mysterio, Orton and AJ. Would be great to watch.

I can't enjoy matches like this knowing the participants just don't matter to the bookers and never will.

Yeah, I loved this match. I so, so badly wanted the crowd to be into it and I think largely they were, all things considered.
Glad these guys delivered like we knew they could. Just really hope they both get something worthwhile to do next.

I really hope Murphy doesn't catch heat for knocking Lawler's mic off, but as one in a million as that occurring was I can still see it happening.

My earlier comparison to RVD/Jerry Lynn is still the best description I've got. I'm not sure how much they've been wrestling at live events, but their chemistry last night seemed like they'd been wrestling one another for a decade.

I think they had a few matches on the NXT house show circuit last year. Black also had a tweet praising Murphy after that match, but I can't find it now.

Good match that was made difficult to really love because of Lawler's absolutely awful commentary Did you pick up on Lawlers subtle implication that Blacks nose may have been broken?

I can't enjoy matches like this knowing the participants just don't matter to the bookers and never will. To be fair, it certainly seems like Heyman loves both dudes, so he'll likely be fighting for them to get more time and development. Downside: it still all comes down to Vince. But yeah, by the sound of it they let these guys tell a classic "I want respect, and I'll try my damnedest to beat a really great wrestler to earn it" story, and made it long enough to have some substance but also short enough to leave room for rematches. That's good! The catch now is they have to make it all mean something, which is obviously the perpetual catch with WWE. WWE has seemed to hit on at least a partially decent PPV formula where they put strong matches on early in a lot of shows before things get kind of stupid later on, but the danger is allowing things to get like, say, the WCW cruiserweight division, which earned all kinds of accolades and positive buzz for its strong showings early on big cards but ended up not meaning enough given the relative lack of focus it'd often end up getting compared with whatever Hogan and friends were doing.

Holy shit. This match.
The only thing I enjoyed more than the brutality was Joe and Vic acting like it was a two-man booth, and King was like someone watching TV making unrelated, unheard comments.
