I just thought of my favorite trope of these threads: If other stuff wasn’t on TV, then the wrestling show would’ve been #1 Yeah, it would be The Playoffs are literally the only thing keeping AEW from being the top thing on cable, and they're only on once a year. This isn't even an outlandish thing to say. The NBA is on from October to June so they have to go against sports most of the year.

But I'm British so don't know how strong that programming would be. Like when that Vanderpump show was around I assume at minimum it would be reality rubbish like that.

That's been the narrative since AEW was born and it will be even after both of them retire, because they're so used to it they probably blame the Young Bucks for everything, including their own failures lol "The Young Bucks are why women won't talk to me!" the venn diagram of buck derangment syndrome sufferers and incels tends to be a single circle so...this might be more accurate than you think lololol

I just thought of my favorite trope of these threads: If other stuff wasn’t on TV, then the wrestling show would’ve been #1 Here, it kind of makes sense, but I know that in general, Tracy Smothers used to make fun of that philosophy being applied to bad attendance, usually bemoaning a local sporting event or concert. "McDonalds is open 24 hours, how can we compete with that?"

Yeah but you remove the playoffs here, and AEW is number one, this isn't some gotcha to "Own the AEW fans" that the poster I replied to was clearly trying to make it.

Sports is always on but I see it less of a " damn any other day it would be number one" and more of a " yeh no way it would beat the NBA so it's probably the best position it would get". I don't think anyone fans or executive is betting on Aew beating major sport leagues

That sort of shows that that's all the viewers they are going to get.

Oh, the sweet naivety of believing the insurmountable foe that AEW faces is simply a bunch of men chasing a ball along colourful lines, and not the inexorable decay of all life in this universe. Entropy. AEW rots away, what force it's created slowly wearing off, and though the friction is immense, no sparks yet fly to rekindle its flame. The cold and uncaring laws of the universe dictate and demand the ruin of All Elite Wrestling, and the ultimate demise of AEW shall not be tossed into baskets, but the all-consuming chill of empty, spent obsolescence.

There have been posts about how AEW would have been #1 if not for the NCAA, NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL, holidays, and literally any other excuse. If my aunt had balls, she’d be my uncle.

Outside of major sports AEW is the top show on cable. Also shows that AEW is doing quite well in tv viewership.

It’s an excuse, because it’s every week, but as long as they have consistent viewership that’s all that should matter. It helps push the show I enjoy, which has been much better since AEW became a thing, so I do appreciate it. Just the consistent excuse making is tiresome, it happens everywhere. I see coaches make excuses of injuries all the time and while it may be true, it’s still an excuse.

You really feel the need to police how fans of a thing (that you don't like or watch) discuss said thing amongst themselves? That's pretty sad my friend. I hope you find peace.

You don't even watch AEW, yet are spiteful towards the people who are making very legitimate arguments and discussions towards the ratings trends? Yeah that's... that's a choice. Really normal behavior in the ratings threads again.

Wouldn’t be an AEW ratings thread without stupid bullshit from people with far too much time on their hands. Gods I wish you could block folks on mobile.

This is the only wrestling community I'm in, so honest question: Do ratings dicsussions get like... this in other places?
