The last time I went to one, the service was slow, and there weren't that many people seated.
The closest Ruby Tuesday to me had even less people.

The one nearest to me closed. Apparently they were real dicks, didn’t tell the staff. They just showed up one day to find the doors locked. I mean, if I'm the manager and I'm given 10 minutes notice that I'm unemployed my first concern probably isn't gonna be "Carry out corporate dirty work and personally notify my staff". It's probably alot more likely to be "How much shit can I fit in my car, I'm gettin the f*** outta here". It's corporate owned restaurants being closed, not franchisee restaurants, the managers likely would've been receiving notification minutes before the staff. If the manager knew in advance, it's highly unlikely it wouldn't have leaked to staff. As someone who has managed at chain restaurants before, it was pretty normal that operations information that was for managers ears only very quickly leaked to all staff.

It’s red lobster, what do they have that could possibly be worth taking?

The cheddar biscuits are great, but RL was like TGI Fridays in that the food was almost good but not quite.

I think the last time I was at one was about 15 years ago and it was passable at best. I'm amazed it is still open, anytime I drive past it, it looks like you could rent out their parking lot for big rig parking or setup a farmer's market.
While being in a good part of town, there are so many better dining options around it or a short drive where all the development is being done and has been done for the past 20 years.

Found out the business closed when he called in and the line was disconnected. I couldn't f***ing believe that. (Non-union job obviously)

I would have helped out a little when I went shopping yesterday and saw their cheddar biscuits in the frozen section. But it was $5+, so I just went with the store brand.

They were shutting it down and renovating the hotel it was in. Staff found out that morning that they were closing up shop that afternoon and we were the last customers. Chilis just flat up skipped town. Everyone showed up to signs on then door.

*Looks into story further*
Waaaait, thing that was actually doing well is stripped to bare bones, blamed on matters not to do with the losses that could have been easily fixed and files for bankruptcy soon after?
Where have I seen that happen before?

It's one of my favorite restaurants but it's been years since going. With being older and having full time jobs, the days off just don't lend to going two a few cities or counties over for a restaurant. And the closest RL's are about 20-25 minutes away. I've had gift cards to there brands restaurants and have bought some for family hoping we'd all go at some point but schedules just never clicked.

Did they blame milennials? Is blaming millenials for any business failing still a thing?

As long as they continue to sell the Cheddar Bay Biscuit mix in-stores, I’m fine with it. And even if they don't, there are plenty of copycat recipes available online. I'm pretty sure it's just Bisquick... + cheddar... +garlic butter.
