Winners: THE MAFIA The Players and their roles 1. Mr. Emoticon Man - Townie2. CageKing 666 - Mafia3. Deadpool - Rambo Boy4. Tag Team Specialist - Pathologist5. Latino Meat - Mafia6. Alexander the SoSo - Mafia7. PK Sandman - Detective8. Daveman - Townie9. jagilki - Mafia10. the other kevin - Townie11. Andy Duke - Mafia Don12. Impact Player - Townie13. Formerly Ralphus - Townie14. Square - Bodyguard15. The Sam09 - TownieThe Rundown: Mafia: You managed to kill all but one of the special humans before the game was up, and you managed to fit in enough to get under their noses. A good effort, considering this was a first game for some of you. Townies: Oooooooooooooh...not good. Taken out in five phases. But most of you are brand new at this so what can I say? At least you put forth some effort. A little more teamwork and you could've made an impact. But that bandwagon on the other kevin was fail ill-advised Mafia MVP: jagilki. As the Heavy Weapons Guy would say, YOU DID WELL! Playing the hardened veteran card to sway the townies into trusting you. Even giving them little pointers along the way. You had them going the whole time. Now, for the prizes: Townie MVP: Daveman You tried to rally your teammates when nobody really knew what to do, and your suspicions weren't all unfounded. If you hadn't gotten killed, you would've been a game breaker in later phases. LVP: In the first game? What do I look like, an asshole? Quote of the Game: Square: And that's the game, ladies and gentlemen. Take five.

Well, I did have a strong suspicion that jagliki was a Mafia member (see my first vote; I should have saved Square (who I first used my abilities on) there but if I did , I would've been exposed and offed).
Second vote was totally in the dark, as I suspected TTS originally, but found out he was the pathologist. theotherkevin was just in the crosshairs.
I never got my third vote, but if I did, myself and TTS knew that Latino Meat was a Mafia member (go look at his oddball voting for Formerly Ralphus during theotherkevin's lynching) and would have offed him next.
I was lucky to be the last 'special' standing, but not so lucky as to have the "2 wrong and you're done" happen.
Also, TTS, you're wrong. Exposing yourself on the post wondering if it was the Mafia's turn or not did you in. In short: Meat did it (just like that new portion on my title).

I voted for Ralphus because I wasn't ready for the next phase yet... so I wanted this one to keep on going. I felt INCREDIBLY bad for offing DP in the very first round... but yeah, had to be done. It was my first time, and I would love to play again. Was fun.

I figured the game would be even with a Rambo and a Guardian on the townies side. I didn't think the Mafia would kill them both on the first and second night Live and learn, you know . Next time, it'll be more balanced.

All I hope is that I'm not a townie.

Mafia MVP: jagilki. As the Heavy Weapons Guy would say, YOU DID WELL! Playing the hardened veteran card to sway the townies into trusting you. Even giving them little pointers along the way. You had them going the whole time. Well, he didn't have me "going the whole time." I had him pegged on Day 1, and I even called him out on it. As soon as he mentioned he had been persecuted on other boards and in other games for being a so-called experienced player who ran games, I knew he was trying to trick players into thinking he was innocent. I had hoped others would have jumped on him after I was dead, but sadly it didn't turn out that way. I knew I'd be knocked off as soon as I appeared to be the experienced townie. I suppose in this game that was true, but I'm really not that strong of a player. I'm really worried that I'll now be an early cop/mafia target in subsequent games. (Hopefully I'll get some lucky doc protections or a self-protection role.) Note to future townies: DISCUSSION IS YOUR FRIEND. Talking can only help the town root out scum, and rushing to a lynch is a good way to throw away a game. Be suspicious of people voting without reason (unless it's an early-game random vote). Honestly, I've been wanting to yell at you all since I was bumped off. As a vanilla townie (as I was), your biggest (and, really, only), weapon is your vote. Think. Talk. Rationalize. So, who's running the next game? I'll do it if there are no other volunteers, but I'd prefer to play again. I'll go work on a set-up in case I do wind up running the next one. God, I love Mafia.

Is this like clue or what?It seems like fun and I'd like to join but could someone just tell me what it is? Basically, there are two teams, the innocents and the Mafia. The Mafia members know each other. The innocents only know their own roles and the number of mafia members. You got two phases, Day and Night. During Night the Mafia kill one townie, and during the Day, the townies vote to lynch somebody they think is Mafia. The Mafia win if they kill enough innocents to equal them, the townies win if they kill all the mafia. That's the basic idea.

I've been playing with running one here for a while. I've got one semi-set up for my own boards. However if you want first, go for it. Mine would be a theme game.

Updated with Quote of the Game.
Yeah, a themed one would be great now that we've introduced the concept. What's your idea?

Most of mine are theme games, and indeed the one I'm half-finished with is theme-based. I'm not sure I'd like to divulge the theme just yet, as that may ruin some of the fun, but I will say I got the idea from John Hodgman. Can you tell us yours? Also, where have you played previously?

I've been working on a "Generic Old West" theme. Not uber themed, but that's the one I've got most roles for at the moment.
I've also been working on a NWO vs. WCW Revenge II (but that one is a sequel to a game ran on another forum, so I'm doing it there.... sometime)
I've also played with a Star Wars theme.

I didn't really know what the hell was going on, so I just took a "stand back and watch until you see something useful" route. Outside of noting that Daveman was a townie, though, that didn't really do me much good.
Still, I'd be interested in playing this again, if only as a way to kill some time.
