We have a thread about movies that have aged well, but what about the ones that don't?
E.T.- The Extra Terrestrial: The alien isn't really that convincing, full developed of a character besides the fact he's lost and needs to get back home. We don't know that much about him which leads to plot holes like why he and Elliot started to suddenly get sick and how was he able to come back to live? Plus, for the most part, I find the movie now to be a little too sappy and artificial for me.
First Spider-Man: While the story is light hearted, it doesn't change the fact that it's pretty cheesy. From the cheesy dialogue and the over the top acting from Dafoe; Spider-Man 1 hasn't aged well. Plus, you have your other cliches like pointless, annoying female characters with Mary Jane along with orgin story cliche. I swear, every orgin movie with the exception of "Iron Man" suffers from this. Once the guy gets their powers and becomes the superhero hero, the writers have no idea what to do with the time left in the movie and it just goes all over the place.

The Scream movies. I loved them when they came out, but they seem terrible now. I couldn't believe it when they recently made a part 4.
I agree about Spider-Man, but I always thought it was "supposed" to be sort of corny, like an old comic book from the 60's turned into a movie. I was very against the remake next year, but after rewatching these a few months ago, I'm all for it.

Dumb and Dumber and both Ace Ventura movies. Despite the Cable Guy being slammed for years, I feel that one has gotten better over the years, especially after seeing Jim's career trajectory after he released it.

The Scream 2 and 3 haven't aged well at all (Scream 3 being a horrible movie and Scream 2 being mediocre). But I was watching the first Scream and it holds up well. Yeah the movie screams 90's but I don't think it hurts its premise. It still does a good job of being a self aware mocking of 70's and 80's horror movies. Didn't see Scream 4 but I assume its horrible or mediocre

I like Spider-man alright, I just wish they'd give him back his sense of humour.

Tron. Not just the effects looking outdated, the whole thing just seems dated.

Clueless. It basically SCREAMS "this is the 90s!". It doesnt help matters that Alicia Silverstone is no longer popular.

I would expand it to say all 3 Spider Man movies. Sure, the 3rd was never that well liked, but 1 & 2 were and I can barely watch them now.

Any computer thriller from the 90's when people still thought it was some sorcery box.. ie Hackers, The Net, Swordfish.

When I watched this in theaters back in 2002, I enjoyed it, but I can admit the overall cheese factor and kind of developed a love/hate relationship with it. However, nine years later when I watched it again, I still enjoyed it to a certain level, the cheese was still there, but you can definitely tell how dated this movie is when you watch it now. It was obviously of the times. I don't know how popular extreme sports are these days, but I remember Tony Hawk had a lot of games out at that point when this was made, also snowboarding seemed to have been popular among some people. Also, there was that one scene when Vin Diesel was driving that car and talking about how a senator was trying to get video games banned. Sure, video game controversy still exists, but it wasn't nearly as prevalent as it was during the 90s-early 2000s.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Mostly due to the fact that a lot of it takes place in a mall (when malls were 'cool') and at an arcade (which are obsolete now). Also, weren't the concert ticket prices that were mentioned in the movie very cheap...like $10 or so?

Don't Be a Menace. It just screams 90s, but that was the point.
