Owen - Didn't watch wrestling then, because I was only 8 years old. My sister did though, because everyone did then. She was watching the RAW is Owen show, and said he had an in ring accident.
Eddie - I was outside playing basketball with my neighbor, went inside and went on a wrestling message board I frequented at the time. I saw on the latest posts "Eddie Guerrero found dead", I figured it was a joke because EVERYTHING on that site was sarcastic. Went to WWE.com and it said he was dead.
Benoit - I was on sportsonpc.com, some website that provided sopcast feeds (it got shut down). I was watching baseball on there, and saw in the shoutbox "Chris Benoit dead OMFG". I thought it was just some idiot clowning around, went to WrestleZone, jaw hit the floor.

I learned about Owen's because I use to watch PPV's, well, it was all scrambled and you could hardly see shit, but you could hear what was going on. I got online and was like, holy shit! My brother's best friend was there and said it was some freaky stuff.
Benoit and Eddie, I just read that online, don't really remember.

Owen - I don't remember exactly......I'm guessing the RAW show that following day.
Benoit - I was waiting in line with my friends to get into the American Bank Center (where RAW was going to take place), and a guy yelled out "Show's been cancelled. They found Benoit dead". And just like that, practically everybody was gone, while my friends and I had to wait for my friend's mom to show up since the person who gave us the ride to the ABC was already at work.

I was watching Over The Edge when Owen died. I didn't think anything was wrong until Jim Ross confirmed it-that was disturbing to say the least. I still have Raw is Owen on tape somewhere.
My cousin called me about Benoit. I'm not sure if I was even gonna watch Raw that night, or I had forgotten it started early, but I was shocked and dismayed and I called a friend and watched the show with him

the Owen death via phonecall Benoit when a Benoit replay was playing on Raw 6/26/07- I took that as a sign that something was awry

Owen, I found out cruising the WWF web site during the PPV. I listened to JR and The King via scramblevision on the replay and was quite disturbed.
Benoit was a complete surprise to me since I didn't hit the websites or message boards that day. When the WWE logo came on, I was like "Man, I can't wait to see how the Vince limo death angle will play out." Then I see "In Memory Of" graphic with Chris Benoit's face on it and I was completely stunned.

I found out about Eddie when I was waiting in line for TNA Genesis. Eddie was probably my favorite wrestler of all time, I sat around for that entire event in shock.
I almost broke when Konnan made his speech.

Owen: At the time of his death I didn't have cable and RARELY watched tv since the only channel I had was ABC so believe it or not the way I learned about Owen's death was from the video game WWF Attitude for the N64. I was a couple months late but was in absolute shock.
Benoit: I had been on the internet that whole day and had heard he missed Vengeance but thought nothing of it. I got off about an hour or two before Raw. When Raw started up I was anticipating what was going to happen with the Vince is Dead storyline however when it started up I saw the "In Memory of Chris Benoit" graphic and sat there frozen with shock hoping they had just started some retarded storyline where somebody was on a rampage "murdering" superstars (don't ask why it was a desperation thought) then when I saw the empty arena with Vince in the ring I started to cry.
Eddie: I got on AOL early that morning and someone IM'd me and was like "Did you hear about Eddie" I said no and he replied with "Dude he died" I thought he was talking about Eddie in an e-fed I was in with him and was like "Oh damn dude that sucks how?" when he mentioned Chavo found him dead I relized it was the actual Eddie Guerrero who at the time was my favorite wrestler.

Owen- when I played WWF Attitude(I think it was 2001), I wasn't a watcher back then, and i remember on another wrestling forum someone was saying that Owen is one of the greatest tech wrestlers, and I was wondering why he's not in the WWF, if he was. Benoit- my buddy im'd me.

Owen - I called my friend after getting off of work (he taped the PPV's and I would borrow the tape afterwords, if I wasn't able to be there). He told me. I thought he was BS'ing me, so then I watched the PPV. I then had confermation.
Benoit - I went to a message board for a PC game I mod, and someone there said "BENOIT IS DEAD" I then came here (why here instead of WWE, I dunno) and saw the thread. I then went to WWE, and saw their story.
Eddie: I came to the Wrestlecrap home page and saw the "Wrestlecrap is saddened (maybe it said shocked as well, I don't really remember) by the passing of Eddie Guerrero." I then went to WWE.com and saw their story.

Owen Hart: I was watching the Over The Edge PPV live with my mom and my sister. Very surreal moment when they came back later in the show and announced that Owen had died on the way to the hospital
Chris Benoit's death actually made me feel like a dick. I was at the Vengeance PPV last June and had no idea that Benoit wasn't going to be there. I was looking forward to watching him and Punk tear the house down in what I was convinced was going to be match of the year. When Nitro came out, I very jokingly turned to my friend and said "Benoit better be dead or something cause this is bullsh*t" I found out the next morning that he was. I felt like a total douchbag. Later that day I found out how he died. He turned out to be a bigger douchebag.

Owen: Begged my parents to order Over The Edge that night, but they couldn't afford it. I had the day off school the next morning, so I decided to sleep in. When I woke up late that morning, I flipped on the radio right as the news was starting, and Owen's death the night before was mentioned. I was in a state of total shock, and a little perturbed about how the whole thing went down. It took me quite a while to get over that one.
Benoit: I got home from work around 4 that day, showered, freshened up, ate, and all that nonsense. I got on the computer around 5 and casually checked WWE.com as I always do when I log on. My jaw dropped when I saw the front page, and re-read it several times to make sure I hadn't misread. I proceeded to get on MSN and tell a friend of mine about it, who was equally stunned. I stayed online until Raw, at which point I watched the tribute show all the way through. After that, I got back online for the rest of the night, completely unable to sleep. I was pretty damn useless at work the next day, having stayed up all night, and got yelled at quite a bit over it. The whole thing just numbed me for weeks until I started to come down from it.
And, seeing as most of you are mentioning this one as well...
Eddie: Like I've stated before on the board, I was largely out of the loop during 2005 due to personal reasons. Dare I say this was what pulled me back in. I logged onto AIM by chance that Monday, and I got an IM from a friend I hadn't heard from in quite a while. He said something to the effect of "DUDE CHECK WWE.COM, HOLY SHIT." When I did, I found myself quite stunned. It was totally out of left field. That night, I watched the Eddie tribute show, which was the first time I'd watched Raw in about 8 months. It made me somewhat regretful that I missed more or less the last year of the guy's career.

Owen - I was in the military at the time, and they would show the PPV's at the Enlisted Club. I remember the place being so packed that I had to sit on a pool table! I cannot accurately describe the reaction in the place when JR broke the news, as there were at least 500-600 people there. I'm sure you can imagine what that was like though.
Benoit - I remembered that he missed Vengeance this year for "personal reasons" or whatever it was, so I went to WWE.com to see if there was any info on when he would be returning, and there was the "BENOIT DEAD" headline. This was that Monday afternoon a few hours before Raw was on.

Owen: I was watching the jesse ventura story, but was upset at how cheesy and inaccurate it was. I decided to go onto RSPW and the first recent post was "owens dead, stop the ppv". At first i thought he took some super monster bump, but then i read the full message
Benoit: was trying to log onto wrestling classics (which btw, has a link to a timeline and reactions to the benoit incident) but the board was unusually slow. I went to another board and they were talking about benoits death. I watched and taped the tribute show, only to find out that benoit may have been the murderer when i got back online (i was thinking nancy was pregnant when he no-showed vengence, and thought the death was carbon monoxide poisoning). I was hoping it was stupid speculation (ie steph/savage, punk's beer) only to find out the sad truth the next afternoon.

Owen: I had just finished work that night, and I remember being excited because I was so sure that Taker was World Champ and Owen was IC Champ. I got home and there was an e-mail in my inbox titled: "Owen Hart dies at Over the Edge". The first thing that went through my mind was thinking McMahon had put together some insane new angle, like Owen was supposed to be the new Undertaker. But I realized it was serious when I actually opened the e-mail. I didn't believe it though, so I went to wwf.com. I just sat there staring blankly at the headlines for I don't know how long, fighting back tears. A part of me still doesn't believe it...
Benoit: I was on myspace and Marty Jannetty posted a bulletin: "PLEASE tell me Benoit and his family weren't really found dead in their home!!!"

OK, let me just say that this thread depressed me like none other, and I had to skip to the end so I could post this and still be able to get through it.
Owen: I was actually at work, and I overheard a middle-aged, female, non-wrestling fan asking someone if they had seen the paper that morning and heard about "that wrestler that died; the Blue something-or-other." I immediately spoke up: "The Blue Meanie?" (obviously not thinking straight, and assuming his size had something to do with it.) "No," she said, claiming she couldn't remember. It wasn't until my lunch break when I actually saw the newspaper that my heart jumped up into my throat. "Oh my God," I said. "Not Owen." Everyone in the break room looked at me strange, but I didn't care. One of my favorites had gone too soon, and I ate in complete silence (even ignoring those who tried to speak to me) in tribute to him.
Lame? Perhaps. But it was sincere, and that's what meant the most to me.
Benoit: I was coming back from the store with my girlfriend-at-the-time (and her daughter) around 8:00 p.m. when I got a phone call from my dad. Raw had just started, the "In Memory of..." graphic had run, and he knew Benoit had been one of my favorites, so he called me. I answered, and without even saying hello, he said "Chris Benoit is dead." I was speechless, hung up, and my girl asked what happened. I told her (she's not a fan, but knows that I am) and she dropped the subject.
It wasn't until the next morning on my way to work, listening to the radio, that I found out it was a double murder-suicide. I was in disbelief for the rest of the day ... but once I was convinced, I ran through the entire gamut of negative emotions in the span of about two minutes.
*sniff*
And now I'm going through them again, for both instances. R.I.P. Owen; B.I.H.* Benoit.
*Guess what "B.I.H." means. It shouldn't be too hard.

I didn't watch back when Owen died.
And I hadn't been online at all and turned on RAW and the In Memory picture was there. I jumped up and was like "WHAT!?" While Vince was talking, my mom and sister said this was so dumb and I was like "Shut up you fricking morons, this is real." I was dead serious. I was pretty crushed though watching RAW. I was never a huge fan of him. To me he was a bit bland wrestling and all but he was still cool.
