eh, kinda close, but not quite. It was during the actual tough enough contest. And Puder wasn't released shortly there after. He went on to win the contest, and spent quite a while in OVW before getting released. No, the jointlock was on televised SmackDown. You could tell Angle was legit hot about it and Tazz lamely tried to cover it up. I know. The tough enough that Puder won(that also brought us the Miz) was broadcasted on SD exclusively. It didn't have its own TV show on MTV like the previous outings. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWE_Tough_Enough#.241.2C000.2C000_Tough_Enough

So this division would be reminiscent of ROH Pure Title matches??

No, it'd bomb for all the reasons stated in this thread.
Fans start "boring" chants during "slow" regular matches, how could they sit through 8-10 minutes of amateur wrestling?

So this division would be reminiscent of ROH Pure Title matches?? Really, all they'd have to do to make it more unique in WWE, is to remove the ring ropes. I think it could be a good little gimmick match for a PPV, given the right circumstances and workers.

It would be too much like Brawl for All. Most importantly, as mentioned, they'd have the uncomfortable position of trying to promote it as being real with the rest of it being fake.
Whoever won it might not be someone they want to push (see: Bart Gunn) and I don't know what the payoff would be.
Plus, they'd have to pad the division with people noone's heard about.
I mean... what would this division consist of? Haas, Benjamin, Lashley, Nunzio...
Santino maybe, Burke doubtful... Regal and Finlay are both getting up there in age.
Will people really care about guys like Haas or Nunzio?
And is it worth the possible injuries? (Again, see Brawl for All).
It's a good idea in theory, but that's it.

You would think so, but there are ways around that. For example, if they were to base match outcome solely on a point system, you could easily sell that the Pro wrestling matches are more brutal, because you are allowed to strike your opponent, and you have to knock them out for at least three seconds, whereas in the amateur matches, they just have to score points. Kind of like comparing a bar fight to soccer.

I mean, if they went over this in the back and said "Hey Angle is going to squash you guys tonight, just put up a fight for 10-15 seconds then tap out" then that's fine, but I don't think they did that, so Puder figured he'd fight back and did. About the amateur wrestling division, it would be boring as hell. I'd change the channel in a heartbeat and I imagine a lot of other people would as well.
