The Rock/Big Show was started around the time Jericho made his debut, if I remember correctly. Im not sure of the date but I know Rocks promo that Jericho interrupted with his entrance was to call out Big Show.

I actually think this is the worst rumble (with the exception of 1995). The undercard of this event is brilliant but the rumble itself is awful. Even the Mae Young segment?

Im not sure of the date but I know Rocks promo that Jericho interrupted with his entrance was to call out Big Show. Actually that was an earlier time when Show was a heel. A few months later he was a face - when he won the WWF Title at the Survivor Series. Shortly after Armageddon a month later, when he lost the title to HHH, he turned heel again and began feuding with the Rock. Yeah, Big Show must've turned face then heel then face about 50 times during his first year with the WWF. And for some reason, I honestly think their feud started with back-and-forth taunting about "I'll win the Rumble! No I'll win the Rumble!"

I love Rock's promo at this event.
'The Rock's first concern is...Crash Holly. And The Rock's second concern is...Headbanger Mosh. Now if the Rock can get through those two, he might have a shot at winning the Royal Rumble!'

I remember this Rumble for the incredibly horrendous Three-Way match for the IC title.
If I were booking it, I would've quickly gotten Chyna out of the way with a semi-hard bump (that's not in her pants), had Holly and Jericho beat the hell out of each other, have Chyna come back for a near-fall, than have Jericho steal a win.

I was so glad the Garden crowd gave Mr Backlund a HUGE pop when he came out.

Road Dogg clinging to the bottom rope in a fetal position for the majority of the Rumble was my favorite part.

I was so glad the Garden crowd gave Mr Backlund a HUGE pop when he came out. Backlund's reaction to the pop and JR's calling of it is one of my favourite moments in wrestling history. Backlund looks confused. JR: 'What the HELL is Bob Backlund doing here?' As if he just snuck in a back door and entered randomly.

Was Taka badly hurt after he landed on his head ? Must admit King's 'doink' on the replay was funny.

He was concussed. You note Funaki kept coming back and he didn't.

I bought the DVD around two months ago, and before going to the Rumble, I'm gonna be watching that one again.
