So I was thumbing through my 2008 Guinness Book of World Records, and whose photos do I stumble on but Vince, Lesnar, and The Rock. I take a little read, and it turns out that the WWE has a whole section of records under 'Combat Sports'. Apparently, Vince holds the record for oldest WWE champion, Brock for youngest WWE champion, Rock and Trish for most times winning the WWE and Womens titles, respectively, Stone Cold for most Rumble wins, and Taker for most Rumble wins as entrant #30. My mind is now rampant with a slew of questions (What do they consider as criteria for these records, Who do they consider as judges for these records, could making real records from sports-entertainment hurt Guinness' credibility, does WWE's revisionist history come into play, and isn't Orton the youngest WWE champ, to name a few), but the main one is 'Why?' The only answer I could come up with can best be stated by Vince himself (It's all about the mon-ayyyyyyy), but I wanted to get the forums thoughts on this, since I haven't seen a thread on it yet.

Randy is the youngest 'World Heavyweight Champion', not youngest WWE champion as he never held the WWE title until 2 months ago at age 27.

I'm surprised the stuff is in there at all. I doubt the company makes any money from being in the Guiness Book. When I was a kid I used to always look through Guiness Book for the "Largest Indoor Attendance Record" from Wrestlemania III. Never found it.

Lol, i love how the Undertaker holds the record for most number of wins in the Rumble coming in at number 30.........as he's the ONLY man to have ever come in at number 30 and actually won despite how in the past it was such a big deal

There are some records that just shouldn't be mentioned, like things very few humans are physically capable of doing.
As far as WWE goes, I'm surprised it even got in. I would've assumed the Guinness organizers are of an elitist group that wouldn't want wrestling involved in their prestigious list.

Guinness only covers WWE to appeal to certain demographics. They like to use pictures of people like Trish and the Rock to get attention of readers. It's a nice little section that might catch the eyes of young people. A staged competition (really just entertainment) is not really something that serious record keeping agencies should pay attention to.

It's not a big deal holding "records" while being the only show left in town.
And it's silly having the records of a "sport" where competition is fake. In next year they could have Jobber Jobberson holding all the records...

Actually, Moolah has one more women's title win than Trish. It is 8-7.

Actually, Moolah has one more women's title win than Trish. It is 8-7. im pretty sure that moolahs title reigns are totalled from her nwa and wwf titles combined but the book for some reason is taking the wording of all of the title names very literally and hence we have the rock, lesnar, and trish when really none of them should be there

Boy the Guinness book sure has changed since I was a kid. They didn't fill it with such nonsense. Now, the world's longest mustache-that's Guinness worthy.

The WWE records are far more legit than at least 3/4 of the shit that's in there.
Most beans thrown into a bucket from a bath tub is one I recall from a couple years back.

Guiness went way downhill when the book went from mostly text to mostly pictures. I know that they did both styles for 2000, but I'm not sure if they do that anymore. I collect the books, and it's really interesting to see how records change from year to year.

WWE accomplishments that should be in there: Biggest attendants, Biggest buy rates, Youngest signed superstar, Oldest signed superstar... Actual, non-scripted accomplishments, you know?

I thought I did see the WM3 attendance listed in the book, however I've heard stories since saying the figures were inflated so, I don't know
