I agree with most posters on Trish and Candice both in my opinion below average to terrible female wrestlers. Also how can anyone saw Del Rey, Haze, and Danger are overrated? They are probaly the best female wrestlers today.
But for my pick of an overrated wrestler it has to be Lita. Now Lita I'm talking about the Lita that was permantly injured all the time thus making alot of her work garbage and wrestled in the most boring style I've seen (sans Maria, Torrie, and Kelly Kelly). But looking back at all her work she only seemed to be healthy for maybe one year of her career.

She's one of many that should play the role of cheerleader and almost never wrestle.

I had a phase were booking worked on me and I preferred Lita (not being a blonde cookie cutter bimbo) to Trish. Then the WWE kept dropping the ball with all the women wrestlers they had and all the cances for meaningful fueds by releasing everyone and promoting fluff bunny matches instead of real wrestling so I moved on and never looked back. Like in the movie.

I actually agree, but before her knees were messed up even at her worst everyone still rated her as a top female wrestler, but she wasn't. When you kill her high flying moves she got old fast, plus as she was on the roster more and more her mic skills deteriorated, especially her last year when she was with Edge, pure pain! I f she could have done the high flying moves all through her career than that would have been different but thats not what happened.

female wrestlers. Also how can anyone saw Del Rey, Haze, and Danger are overrated? They are probaly the best female wrestlers today. Maybe so, but along with Melissa, etc, people act like they're the greatest thing ever. I think people confuse calling something overrated with calling it crap. It's like me saying that Cena is underrated - it's not that he's the greatest thing around, but he's better than he's given credit for. Well, I think some of the SHIMMER/ChickFight group of female wrestlers are given more credit than they deserve.

But yeah maybe a tad overrated but not more so than Trish. But as underrated female wrestlers go I have to say Beth Phoenix and Jillian Hall are way underrated.

I think that if anything, they're slightly overrated, but that's mainly because people are dying for there to be a good women's division in WWE. They're both good, but people will jump up at the thought of ¡LEGIT WIMMENS COMPERTISHUN! in the 'E. I don't rate Mickie that highly as a worker, she can be a little botchy (her looks and charisma make up for it), but there is so much love for her because she is good, and can be even better given the people to work with.

Well, I think some of the SHIMMER/ChickFight group of female wrestlers are given more credit than they deserve. Speaking in terms of what's been going on with women's wrestling in North america for the last decade and a half they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. Mercedes Martinez is underrated. Outside of die-hards, she's rarely given her due. So are Jillian, Beth and Melina. The stuff they used to be able to do easily measures up to what you're seeing on the independent scene and that's amazing considering they came up right after puppy power. I also think that people rate womens' wrestlers on wheter or not they are able to compete with men or wheter or not their wrestling style resembles that of men. That's why I think a lot of people are on the Del Rey bandwagon especially if they are new to womens' wrestling. Now, I'm starting the second guess my original answer, should diva-style wrestling be included?

That's not bad hype because it builds them up and puts them in the position to be able to do so (sadly, only in some people's eyes) when time comes. I mean, people buy the "Candice has vastly improved and is a wrestler" hype, no different from Trish's. They did both get a lot of votes in this thread. Heh.

I DO think that Candice has improved in all areas, but when you're starting at nothing, it's not hard to improve. I mean, if I was given a WWE contract, I'd improve rapidly... I'd still be the worst guy on the roster by miles...

Sable was overrated as hell in her day. Luna was better in every way, and never got a title reign. FREAKING MISS KITTY AND DEBRA GOT TITLE REIGNS.
Trish is overrated. Not that she's bad. It's just she was never as good as Lita or Victoria, but got twice the praise.
Gail Kim, in her WWE run, since I haven't seen her much in TNA, was relatively overrated, since she wasn't exactly unknown for blowing spots.

Oh and Traci Brooks and Jacqueline have to be added to this list. Especially the former.

Trish, Lacey, Daizee(but I still love her so), LuFisto, Talia, Allison Danger, Candice(just saying she's competent in the ring is overrating her), Melina, Moolah, Victoria, Traci Brooks, Lita, Manami Toyota, and while she's definitley not bad, her using Bryan Danielson's music does not make Sara Del Ray the female Bryan Danielson, but I just can't stomach most women squashing students/jobbers unless it's like a big angry Jazz, Bull Nakano or Aja Kong woman.
But yeah Trish and Lita are definitely the most overrated. Revolutionized womens' wrestling? by blowing spots, being carried through matches, or botching on a regular basis?

I was going to say Trish and expect to be run out of the thread, but I see a lot of people agree. On top of that, her heel run where she tried to be "funny" was just painful to watch.

Wow, glad to see a lot of people agree on Trish. I almost got cyber-lynched in the WWe section when saying that. Just because she got better doesn't mean she is good, she is just less awful.
