Is he going to keep the ROH Title? It says in the original post that they won't make a move with the belt if Nigel's back for Final Battle weekend.

I do NOT like the idea of this waiting game idea. If they wait, and Nigel's out to 2008, they've let a month and a half of dormancy get under that belt all for nothing. Get it off him somehow, some way, and you got a ready-built story for when he comes back.

I think they should take the belt off of Nigel due to his injury. If it's questionable if he's going to return when he's supposed to then why have him be champion? Pull it off of him, give it to someone already over as either a heel or face, have Nigel come back when he's healed, have him kill the new champion.

I don't really see why they need to pull it off him. Having Misawa there has already given them insane ticket sales for the early part of November, then they just need to get through a few shows until Final Battle. No big deal; have Nigel appear in storyline capacities.
That said, any longer than Final Battle, and you've gotta do something right away in January. Title matches are big in ROH, but they're not the driving force behind ticket sales, either, so they can hold off 'til then.

I understand Zane and Jed's points, but I think they're making the call because the chances are more than good that Nigel will be back for no later than the first shows in 2008. Now, the booking might still be questionable, but for all we know they may change their decision at or after GBH.

So what does this mean for the Aries/Dragon match? The winner is #1 contender? If Nigel is unable to return by FB they're put in a title match?

Chris Hero is the #1 Contender, and should remain so, with the Aries/Danielson winner being #2 Contender. That said, there are going to be four shows without Nigel - I think the two contenders can be kept busy piling up wins until Nigel's back.

The next title defense was supposed to be Saturday against the winner of Dragon/Aries.

Let's not forget that the winners of the Trios Tournament each get a match of their choice...which you would think would make the most sense being used on the World Champ...so there could technically be five guys in line for Nigel's title upon his return.
It could make for an interesting storyline for Nigel though. He comes back from a torn bicep to have a line of guys waiting to take shots at him at every show.
Although personally, I think if he can't defend the title that he should drop it. I'm kinda old school in that I like the mandatory one title defense a month rule.

Actually, the old school way was once every 90 days...so Nigel's still in the clear if he's back by FB.
