That abdominal stretch was hard to watch. But something I noticed there. It seems like Khali moves a lot faster than he lets on to. He didn't seem as plodding as usual. They probably tell him to move slower to make him seem more impactful, and less gangly. This match wasn't as bad as you guys had me expecting. It's no Gayda debacle.

I was just about to say, and it's been mentioned a couple times but I'll say it anyway, Khali moves in like hyper speed in this match compared to what he does in WWE. And they make him so limited in WWE that he seems even more awful. Honestly, if he did what he did in this Singh/Silva match, I think he would be serviceable as a big man, or at least not in Giant Gonzales territory, where he is right now.
The clothesline and spear were pretty bad though. I guess the one thing Khali has never been able to do is sell.

He has been given more freedom lately, so to speak, but they probably worry that he is unsafe or worry that his body will wear out if he does too much.

It's got to be a safety-for-the-other-guys thing, because I can't see World Wrestling Entertainment worrying about wearing down a guy who I can't expect them to have long term plans for. I don't expect Great Khali to be a member of WWE say in January 2009. Probably gone a lot sooner than that, really.

It's not like he's been a complete loss or anything. He's come a long way from his debut, at least. If nothing else, the claw helped his work in that it had built up leading up to it, and is better than his doublechoke toss or the Chop.

It was a good match.
I've posted the match myself to show how much better Khali is than people think, and to also show just how much Silva has improved. Everyone in that thread agreed with me. They're giants, they have to wrestle like giants. They have to do little things, but iut's their job to tell you how much it hurts.
It just goes to show just how much perception can ignite opinions. It's two "big guys" yeah, it automatically has to suck. It's like when we're kids and everyone wants fruit loops, but your parents by the "fruit rings" cheap bargain brand, and everyone thinks it's different because Fruit loops has tucan Sam on the box, so you by the one box of fruit Loops and when it's empty you just keep bying the fruit rings and fill up the Fruit loops box, they never tell the difference, because there isn't a difference. As long as they see the black box with Fruit rings on it, and without Tucan Sam, they're going to think it's different.
For the most part, The IWC works the same way with "workrate", chain wrestlers, bodybuilders, and giants.

Oh give me a break. There are plenty of guys almost as tall as Khali and plenty who are heavier who wouldn't almost fall over attempting an abdominal stretch.

It was half decent, with some novelty tossed in, which helped. The ending was alright. If you want to see bad, watch Rosey vs. Trump, Test vs. Rodney, a few of Nash's efforts, or in my opinion, Hulk vs. HBK. Again, novelty to some of these, but at their root, worst matches.

You people forget something: that was the second half of the match. If you watch at the end, the result banner indicates it was twice as long as what we say.

^^^ Yes they did but I don't think he was that moble as in this match. I know Silva became a decent big man. Nothing special but better then a few guys. When the WWE had him I don't know how much if any train he had. There had to been a reason why he hardly wrestled.

I would also like to see Giant Silva return to WWE. He's improved a lot from his oddities period and this match. Khali wasn't half bad for being as huge as he is. He's no Andre or Baba, but he can convincingly fight like a giant.
And to be brutally honest, I would rather watch this then any of the recent Kevin Nash matches. He may be one of my favorites, but he was horrible during the dying days of WCW and his WWE stint. Even the heavily limited WWE Khali blows Nash out of the water.

The clothesline and spear were pretty bad though. I guess the one thing Khali has never been able to do is sell. That clothesline was so impactful Khali sold it BEFORE it happened!

this is one of those things I do not understand about Japan. They have seen guys like Misawa, Muta, Liger, Kawada, Kobashi, etc put on some of the greatest matches in wrestling yet they will sit and watch matches like this. I know there is the whole Giant factor thing going on but seriously how can they like this?
