I have a complaint about TNA's show last night.
I know, I know. Batton down the hatches, prepare for war. Take a side, blah, blah, blah.
However, did anyone else find the "Cornette gets a bonus for the 'awesome' Christmas show" to be completely lame?
I mean, it just caused my eyes to roll.
Sure, they're just keeping the Cornette/Mogan Old-School v. New-School angle going, but it seems kind of ridiculous that they're not letting anything but the writers decide what way it goes.
Heck, I think I feel myself leaning into another complaint (They're like potato chips.). ODB and Roxxi are treated as heels (at least they use the ramp) despite getting cheers and chants from the crowd while the 'uniquely' nicknamed "Team Porno" who act stuck up around others (Read: JB) get access to the "Face" ramp just because of the high sexual overtones.
Meh, anyway, this thread is mainly about the whole "Yeah, that show was AWESOME! So here is a bonus!" pat-on-the-back segment. It was kind of embarassing and also, it was like TNA was saying "Hey look! We just gave ourselves an excuse to do MORE shows like that! Hahahaha."
Oh, and to counteract my negative outlooks...here are some positives. I did enjoy the "Struggle of AJ" since it makes him seem important (both want him on their team) and since I got an old-school WCW "We're out of time!" ending. Also, the MCMG/T&AJ was good fun as well.
Alright...here we go!

This has nothing to do with anything you mentioned, but I wanted to throw out just how much I hate this ongoing story with Abyss and his parents.
Everytime I see the guy on screen, I know that something lame is going to happen. I wish TNA would get a clue and just end it already.

I didn't get to see it, but I'll say this about the girls; ODB and Roxxi haven't "officially" turned face yet, but I assume one or both will soon. No biggie.
As for "Team Porno", they've been shown to be on Gail's side often, and they act snobbish to JB, at least usually, because he's constantly trying to get into their pants.

I was 50/50 on the interview, if not just for the unintentional hilarity of it all. Abyss trying to keep her "tough voice" for the whole interview while giving cliche answers like "Too long!" followed by the "Hsssss" of his. Then at the end, Tenay pushes and pushes and pushes. Abyss stands up. Slowly removes his mic.......and walks away. Daggone it Abyss, haven't you seen these types of interviews? Set Tenay on Fire! Put him in the Mandi...er...Give him a Shock Treatment! I can't wait for the secret, in all honesty, just because I have a feeling that it'll be kind of underwhelming.

I know I'll get heat for bringing this up again, but when I went to the impact zone two weeks ago there were about six or seven people chanting ODB walking around holding up a sign.
It sounds like more on tv, and every week people are on this board wondering why she's a heel 'since she's so popular.' Including after the taping I was there for.
Last night I looked at the crowd when I heard the "ODB" chants to see if I could see if many people were chanting, and I saw very few people's mouths moving along with the chant.
I'm not convinced she's that over. Now the "Porno Girls" got a huge reaction from the entire crowd.

I wanna know why Cage and Angle are fighting over AJ anyway. Since turning heel, he's become an inept, clumsy, lackey to whomever the lead heel is at the time. He's like Eric Young, but a heel. Not exactly a logical #1 choice for a lieutenant if you're forming an army.
Jed Shaffer ~Hmm ... could take the muscular dude ... or the stocky Canadian ... no, go for the goofy, Forrest Gump dude!

Tomko and Robert Roode aren't phenomenal. Every faction needs a guy that's phenomenal AND a guy not afraid to dress up in ridiculous costumes for the good of the group.
AJ is both those things at once!

I guess the point is that he is a highly talented wrestler who is easy to manipulate. Not the "brightest color in the crayon box" in life but still "Phenominal" in the ring.

I think one of the dumbest moments from TNA last night was after Joe had talked to Cornette. The promo guy says "UP NEXT: SAMOA JOE IN ACTION. WILL HE SHOW UP?"

It was good because it made AJ look good but i don't agree on the ending. TNA does this alot, jerk off the fans with their storylines to see the plot or a big match finally resolved in the NEXT episode or the NEXT PPV, they clearly said AJ was gonna give ppl an answer and everybody was ready for it instead "We're out of time". A recent example is the Feast or Fired match, first they put the match on PPV where 4 men got the cases but instead of revealing them on the next iMpact they decided to add things like the 4 Way asking the fans to tune in again NEXT WEEK. Fight for your right comes to mind also, took this straight from lance storm's commentary.
- Lance Storm: "They promised to award a Title shot to someone on the PPV, but at the PPV we were told that it was just going to decide seeding for a tournament that would happen on free TV. Then they have the tournament on free TV only to find out that we still don't get to know the guy who gets the Title shot because they are doing a rematch on PPV. So to get what fans were promised on 1 PPV they had to buy 2 PPVs, and watch 6-8 hours of Impact. That's bullcrap!" Building excitment is good but straight up screwing your fans is not good.

Funny that you were ripping off my thread where i said AJ shouldn't be that guy, considering you think that way.

How else would it be done? It isn't like Cornette getting notice from "management" means TNA is going to book gimmick matches every week. It's just a way to have Morgan's character feel he doesn't have to listen to Cornette anymore.

Now I admit I don't religiously watch Impact, but I have watched it the last few weeks and (from the audio) it always sounds like there is a hot, loud crowd there, but in the background during the matches the crowd is usually completely dead

Faces and heels have separate entrance ramps? Is this a new thing with TNA (i.e. started over the last month), or has it been like this for a while now and I just never noticed it? 2. Is "Team Porno" their official team name now? Or is that an unofficial name that fans came up with like "Londrick"?

When those people chanted "ODB" it was very loud even though there were less than ten of them. And the ODB contingent was actually moving around so it sounded like it was coming from multiple locations. Last night I made a point to see if I could see a bunch of people chanting and I saw a couple of people chanting, but by no means was a large portion of the crowd chanting or pounding their fists in the air. Like I said, I'm not convinced she's that over. I think she has a small, loyal contingent that are very loud in a small building.

I'm afraid it means we're going down a dark path where Cornette and Morgan are weekly rewarded by having the most ridiculous gimmick matches ever.
However, I also think it's going to (hopefully) dovetail with Joe's current pissed-off, underpaid superstar storyline as well. So there's that.
Also, when the hell is Matt Morgan going to get in the ring. he wrestles as much as Indiana Jones teaches!

I did enjoy the "Struggle of AJ" since it makes him seem important (both want him on their team) and since I got an old-school WCW "We're out of time!" ending. 1. Nobody wants him. He's a putz. He wants them to act like a family (which makes him look even more look like a complete and utter FOOL in this storyline, I mean, doesn't he remember Angle beating the crap out of Cage weeks ago?). 2. "I got an old-school WCW "We're out of time!" ending." Oh yeah. THAT sure gave them great ratings and buyrates. "- Plus, AJ Styles has a decision to make - will he side with Kurt Angle or Christian Cage as their World Championship match at Final Resolution draws closer?" TNA: "Yeah, well... NO! NOT TONIGHT!! f*** ALL OF YOU RETARDED WRESTLING GEEKS!"

I'm not talking about people chanting for ODB, what I'm saying is that during every match their audio makes it sound like a hot crowd and when it goes back to the hard cam and you can see the crowd it is usually dead (ie sitting there not making any noise). I know, and I'm saying I don't believe they do that. I watched in person, then I watched the same show on Spike TV, and whenever the crowd went wild, you could tell, and whenever they were dead in person, they were quiet on screen. If anything some chants that were really loud in person were barely audible on tv, because of the announcers and music.
