Falco goes on with a strong showing, sweeping Madonna. No word from Charlton Heston on his vote yet. ------------------------------------------------ This next round just goes to show how many hits Madonna had in the 80's these are all legitimate top 5 hits. She's going up against a classic 80's song, that like other before it, are probably lucky they are going up against one of Madonna's weaker songs. Mr. Mister - Broken Wings"Broken Wings" is a #1 hit song released as a 1985 single by the band Mr. Mister. The band's first single from their 1985 Welcome to the Real World album, "Broken Wings" reached the number one position on the U.S. charts in December 1985, where it remained for two weeks. It was released as the band was just about to embark on a U.S. tour opening for Tina Turner. "Broken Wings" was voted the number nineteen "Most Awesomely Bad Breakup Song" by VH1 and Blender magazine. Vs. Madonna - Causing A Comotion"Causing a Commotion" was released in the United Kingdom just before Madonna's 1987 Who's That Girl Tour and reached number four in the UK charts and number two in the United States. The song was written and produced by Madonna and long-term co-writer Stephen Bray. The versions that appear on the singles were remixed by Shep Pettibone. In the United States, "Causing A Commotion" became one of the top pop hits of the autumn of 1987, debuting on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, at a lofty #41, the week of September 12, 1987, as "Who's That Girl" was descending from the Top 10 of the chart. The single lept up the chart, finally peaking at #2 the week of October 24, 1987, the same week Michael Jackson's "Bad" advanced to the pole position. While "Causing A Commotion" couldn't break the chart success of "Bad", it was strong enough to remain in the #2 position of the Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks.

Despite being really creepy and stalker-like, "Broken Wings" is the better song.

Despite being really creepy and stalker-like, "Broken Wings" is the better song. The Ultimate Creepy-Stalker song that people like to use at their weddings because they don't really listen to the lyrics in depth song will be up later.

Madonna swept again for two matches in row. I'm sure she'll come back with a furious vengeance later. ------------------------------------------------ This match isn't the strongest one, but it features a version of an all time hit that's been around the block more times then you can count. So everyone get dressed in their Sunday best, it's time to vote. Starship is kind of another one I was iffy on, and got in due to wanting to fill out a last few songs. Taco - Puttin' on the RitzA return to the hit parade with a Synthpop version by Taco Ockerse recorded in 1982, reaching #4 on the American Billboard's Pop Chart. This version was ranked #79 in VH1's 100 Greatest One-hit Wonders. Vs. Starship - We Built This City"We Built This City" is a song written by Bernie Taupin, Martin Page, Dennis Lambert, and Peter Wolf and recorded by the group Starship. The lyrics were written by Bernie Taupin, best known for his longtime collaboration with Elton John. The song features Mickey Thomas and Grace Slick on lead vocals, and the single version reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 on November 16, 1985. The city that the band is singing about in the album version of this song has been generally thought to be San Francisco, California (the traffic report in the bridge references the Golden Gate Bridge and The City by the Bay), and in Japan it has been sold with Japanese title "Sisuko wa Rokku Sitii (SF is a rock city)". But according to Starship singer Grace Slick, it was actually written about early-1970s Los Angeles. In April 2004, the song was awarded "the #1 Most Awesomely Bad Song Ever" by Blender magazine,[1] in conjunction with a VH1 Special of The 50 Most Awesomely Bad Songs...Ever. In order to qualify for the distinction, the songs on the list had to be a popular hit at some point, thus disqualifying many songs that would by general consensus be considered much worse. Blender editor Craig Marks said of the song, "It purports to be anti-commercial but reeks of '80s corporate-rock commercialism. It's a real reflection of what practically killed rock music in the '80s."
