Maybe he'll snap in a few weeks and we'll get a nice follow up story.

This chick is one of my professors at college.
She's gotten calls from Ellen and Letterman.
And she is awesome, obviously.

This has "showboating" written all over it. Selling off the kid's car is one thing, but running the ad in the paper two weeks after the fact? Methinks she's playing it up big in public to get people to like her.
Yeah, it's cynical, I know. But these days, every "showy" action like this has as an ulterior motive.

To be fair, she just wanted to sell the car. But since it's getting so much attention, why not play it up? It's not every day a community college professor and radio DJ, in Iowa no less, gets national attention.

It's not every day a community college professor and radio DJ, in Iowa no less, gets national attention. There's a difference between discipline and exploiting someone else's stupidity for personal gain. This case has long sense crossed over from the former into the latter category. Then again, we are a culture that certainly enjoys the humiliation and punishment of others, as long as we can hide behind the veil of righteousness.

I dunno man, I'd be doing the same thing she's doing. It was by chance that this got national attention. Say it stayed under the radar ... pretty much harmless punishment. But now she's got 15 minutes of fame. Go all out, I say.

Its one thing to punish a stupid teen by selling their car off. Its another thing to actually ENJOY the punishment and humiliation of your own family and run around with the title of "mean parent" in the media like it's some sort of honor. Its no accident that this got big. She played up what should have been a private family matter.

He's obviously at least a little ok with it, as he's been on television with her already. I'm sure it is embarrassing, especially on a national level. But here again, it is entirely an accident. She took out the ad in the Des Moines Register. ... Des Moines. She's from Fort Dodge, Iowa. Where? Exactly. It's the media's fault. This would be all over the place anyway, even without Jane going out there and being on TV. And even still, I can't confirm if she accepted the offers from Ellen and Letterman.

So the fact that she's from Iowa makes her showboating okay? Would her showboating not be kosher if she was from Chicago or someplace similar? And what exactly is this teaching her son, "make a big production out of everything and exploiting everyone around you is the road to fame and fortune!" Seriously, we've become a nation of drama queens. We'd do anything to get our faces on the five o'clock news.

That's for the police to figure out, I'm talking about the parent. The parent is not a policing unit, if he gets arrested then that's on him, but its not up to the parent.

I find it extremely hard to believe that someone who keeps liquor under their driver's seat also doesn't drink and drive. In the trunk then maybe . . but under the driver's seat? Please. It's only stupid if you're gullible enough to believe he wasn't. I guess I'm gullible, as I have friends who keep booze in their cars(usually in their glove compartment), but don't drink and drive. They go to someone's house, drink, sleep it off, and about 12 hours later, go on their merry way.

So Snad...would I be correct in assuming you're in the radio broadcasting program at ICCC like I was 10 years ago?
Hell, Jeremy Borash used to be a DJ at one of the stations up there in Fort Dodge at the time I was going there.
But yeah...good for the mother! Perhaps if she's single, she should hook up with the Guitar Hero III selling father who caught his son tokin' up.
