Meat will be mad to see his boy swept away from this match, and I'm surprised really. ------------------------------------------------------- Up next we have Billy Idol, who I decided I would only put a couple of his songs in this tourney and a couple in the Rock tourney later, take on the one and only entry from New Edition. Billy Idol - Dancing With Myself"Dancing With Myself" is a song by the band Generation X released in 1981. It was from their album, Kiss Me Deadly. It was one of their first true hit singles. At the time of its release, the band shortened their name to simply "Gen X." Also of note, the band contained only Billy Idol and Tony James from the original line-up. Idol went on to have great success with the single when he released a more pop friendly version (absent of the driving guitar and bass in the Gen X version) on his first solo release, Don't Stop. The guitar solo of this song is peculiarly similar to the guitar solo of Neu!'s "Hero", from their record Neu!75. The song is reportedly about masturbation. Vs. New Edition - Candy GirlReleased as a single in 1983, the song netted a slow ascent up the charts. It eventually peaked at #46 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart singles chart, and #1 on the R&B singles chart; it also topped the charts in the UK. The song established New Edition as a seminal teen act of their day, and paved the way for a string of hits to come.

The board chooses to dance by themselves, no candy girls here. --------------------------------------------------- This next match is a good one. One of the more unique videos... ever... vs. one of the main stays of 80's Pop. I'm going to set this to 4 votes and head off for the night. Tommorow I'll make sure to get on a little quicker after work to have more time. Goodnight all. A-Ha - Take On Me"Take on Me" is a song by the Norwegian band a-ha. The song is a track from a-ha's first album, Hunting High and Low, released in 1985. The music video for the song was first broadcast in 1985 on local Boston music video station V-66, and then subsequently on MTV. The innovative video was an amalgamation of rotoscope-style animation and live-action. The video was inspired by the animated film Commuter created by Michael Patterson, and the movie Altered States. An extended mix of this song appears on the Japan-only 45 R.P.M. Club EP. The music video of another a-ha song, "The Sun Always Shines on T.V.", forms a sequel of sorts. Vs. Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time"Time after Time" was a single by singer Cyndi Lauper, the second from her She's So Unusual album, and it reached #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts on June 9, 1984. The song was at #1 for two weeks and to date is her second highest charting and most commercially successful single worldwide after "Girls Just Want to Have Fun". "Time after Time" was nominated for "Song of the Year" at the 1985 Grammy Awards. The ballad is considered a classic of the 1980s and is still played frequently on adult contemporary radio.

I don't care if Take On Me wins this round, Time After Time is the better song. Not by much, though.

Dammit, looks like Aha already won. Oh well, I'll still vote for Lauper anyways even if it doesnt matter.
