And the people have voted. Yes to Yes. ----------------------------------------------------- Last match of the night guys. I'm leaving this one up and coming back to it tommorow. Goodnight everyone. Match #30 of 64 - Round 2 Jan Hammer - Miami Vice ThemeThe song Miami Vice Theme was created and performed by Jan Hammer as the theme to the television series Miami Vice. It was first heard by the public in September 1984 and released as a single in 1985, peaking at the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. It is the last instrumental to have topped the chart. In 1986, it won Grammy Awards for "Best Instrumental Composition" and "Best Pop Instrumental Performance." This song, along with Glenn Frey's number-two hit "You Belong to the City," put the Miami Vice soundtrack on the top of the U.S. album chart for eleven weeks in 1985, making it the most successful TV soundtrack of all time until 2006 when Disney Channel's High School Musical beat its record. Vs. Duran Duran - Hungry Like The WolfMusic video director Russell Mulcahy, who had directed the band's first video "Planet Earth", was brought back to make the music videos for "Hungry Like the Wolf" and several other songs for the band's ambitious 1983 video album. The band had a vision of jungles and exotic women, and Mulcahy suggested Sri Lanka, a country he had just visited, which had the advantage of being inexpensive. Keyboardist Nick Rhodes remained behind to finish the mixing of the Rio album while the rest of the band began filming in April; Rhodes flew straight to Sri Lanka after handing over the final masters to EMI. The video was lush and cinematic, with shots of jungles, rivers, elephants, cafes and marketplaces evoking the atmosphere of the film Raiders of the Lost Ark. The storyline reflected the lyrics "I'm on the hunt, I'm after you," featuring singer Simon Le Bon pursuing a tiger-like woman from parties in the city through obstacles in the jungle, culminating in a final chase and struggle in a jungle clearing. In the meantime, other band members hunted for Le Bon. Les Garland, senior executive vice president at MTV, said “I remember our director of talent and artist relations came running in and said, ‘You have got to see this video that’s come in.’ Duran Duran were getting zero radio airplay at the time, and MTV wanted to try to break new music. ‘Hungry Like A Wolf’ was the greatest video I’d ever seen.”[1] "Hungry Like the Wolf" was #11 on the century-end MTV "100 Greatest Videos Ever Made"[3] and #31 on the "VH1: 100 Greatest Videos". [4] MTV also named "Hungry" the fifteenth of their most-played videos of all time.[5]

Both of Kash's joke-entries are now gone! ------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll put this one up. I might have a few more things to do today so we'll have to see if I can put up some more during the day time or not. Oingo Boingo - Weird ScienceWeird Science is a song that was written and performed by Oingo Boingo. It is the theme song to the Weird Science film and television series. It was released on the film's soundtrack, as well as Oingo Boingo's 1985 album, Dead Man's Party in a different version. The version on the soundtrack, the recording released as a single, runs 3:45 long. The version on Dead Man's Party is a much different arrangement, running 6:00. The song was also released in a dance mix on a 12-inch single. Vs. Madonna - Express YourselfUpon its release, the music video for "Express Yourself", the premise of which is that of the Fritz Lang classic film Metropolis, generated a great amount of attention in the media. In the video, directed by David Fincher and filmed in April 1989 at Culver Studios in Culver City, California, Madonna is seen as the epitome of femininity, residing with her cat high above the masculine world of hard work and steam, at once protected and isolated by her surroundings and "chained" to her desires. An older man (played by Gustav Vintas [1]) seems to be in control of the entire situation and keeps a watchful eye over the young male workers (and over Madonna). Eventually, the queen of pop, dressed in a man's suit (that supposedly is from the movie Dick Tracy which was being filmed the same time as the video was), the jacket of which she briefly opens to expose her bra, and grabbing her crotch, bursts forth into the male-dominated world. When the other workers are involved in a boxing match for the entertainment of the older man, a young worker (played by Cameron Alborzian [2]), who earlier saw a vision of the star's eyes, meets with a now-naked and seemingly vulnerable Madonna. The pair kiss and fall to the floor in an embrace. The clip ends with a quotation from the film: "Without the heart, there can be no understanding between the hand and the mind". "Express Yourself" world premiered on May 17, 1989 on MTV. It ranked #10 on both Rolling Stone magazine's "The 100 Top Music Videos" and MTV's "100 Greatest Videos Ever Made" as well as #1 on Slant Magazine's "100 Greatest Music Videos"

I tells ya, movie Pop songs are very popular in this tourny. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This next one should be a great match. New Kids On The Block - I'll Be Loving You (Forever)"I'll Be Loving You (Forever)" is a 1989 ballad single from New Kids on the Block. The third single from the groups second album, Hangin' Tough — it peaked at number one of the Billboard Hot 100, while peaking at number five in the UK. "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)" rose from #56 to #41 the week of April 15, 1989 as "You Got It (The Right Stuff)" was descending from the Top 40. The single proved to be a popular single in the early summer of 1989, reaching #1 on June 17, 1989. The ballad boasted 6 weeks in the Top 10, 8 weeks in the Top 20, and 14 weeks in the Top 40. Most of the music video for "I'll Be Loving You (Forever)" was shot in Xavier High School in New York City. Vs. Pearl Jam - Do The Evolution"Do the Evolution" is a song by Pearl Jam, from the album Yield. Despite not being released as a single, the song managed to reach #33 on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. In 1999, the song received a Grammy nomination for Best Hard Rock Performance and its music video received a Grammy nomination for Best Music Video, Short Form.[1] "Do the Evolution" appears on the band's greatest hits album, Rearviewmirror: Greatest Hits 1991-2003. The song pairs music written by guitarist Stone Gossard with lyrics by lead singer Eddie Vedder. Bassist Jeff Ament does not appear on the track. Stone Gossard recorded the bass line for the track.[2] Live performances of "Do the Evolution" can be found on the live albums Live on Two Legs and Live at the Gorge 05/06. Performances of the song are also included on the DVDs Single Video Theory, Touring Band 2000, Live at the Showbox, and Live at the Garden. On Touring Band 2000, Eddie Vedder adds the lyrics "free the West Memphis 3!" to the song. The actual video clip for the song is also on Touring Band 2000, as one of the Special Features.
