And Bobby McFarrin wins a back and forth match! Prince is no small match up to overcome either!

Well everyone, 128 songs entered Round 2, and 64 have moved on to Round 3.
We had some Rick Rolling, some false start matches, and a DQ this round. Quite eventful!
I'll get the next round tallied up, and we should be able to get the ball rolling on Round 3 tommorow.

Goodnight everybody. "Little Red Corvette", not even a Prince fan, but that's quality stuff. Youse guys move too fast with this. Don't worry about it. I just like to see people participating. Sometimes you'll get votes in that count, sometimes they won't.

Round 3 is prepared. We're ready to rock... or pop, as it would be. So let's get this party started. We're still at 4 votes. I won't go up to 5 until we are at the final 8. Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants To Rule The WorldThe concept is quite serious - it's about everybody wanting power, about warfare and the misery it causes. —Curt Smith Vs. The Cure - LovesongUpon release as a single, the song received worldwide success, and first peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it the group's most successful single in the US to date. Robert Smith originally wrote the song for his long-time girlfriend and then fiancée, Mary, as a wedding present. They are still married.

Tears for Fears
This is probably the hardest match so far, as I love both songs.

Tears for Fears
I absolutely LOVE that song.
The beat to it is such a driving groove.
The lyrics are incredibly bitter sweet.

Even though it's futile, "Lovesong".
I CAN'T STAND "Rule The World".

Proving that even when matches are tough, and can go either way, there still can be sweeps... Tears wins. Nice to see some Cure love at the end there from Radio. --------------------------------------------------------------- One of this contests strongest contenders up now... Michael Jackson - ThrillerWritten by Rod Temperton, produced by Quincy Jones, and featuring a guest soliloquy from Vincent Price, "Thriller" is one of Jackson's signature songs, in no small part because of its music video. The single was included on Jackson's Thriller album, which was released on December 1, 1982 and was the final single pulled from it. A voice-over recording session of "Thriller" appears on the special edition version of the album, released in 2001. This session features additional verses of the rap performed by Vincent Price, which were removed from the final version of the song. Vs. Soft Cell - Tainted LoveSoft Cell elected to release it as their third single in August 7th 1989. Produced by Barry Knodle the track was recorded in a day and a half with the run through vocal being used on the released version. Buoyed by the then dominant synthpop sound of the time and a memorable performance on Top of the Pops it rapidly reached number one on the UK singles chart, eventually repeating the feat in 17 territories. The following year it charted in the US eventually reaching number 8 in a record breaking 43 week chart run.
