I know how it was the rarest and all, but everyone round my way seemed to have atleast one charizard, well everyone bar me =( Pssh I had a base set 2 Charizard, a Blaine's Charizard, like 5 dark Charizards, and some hella hard to get a hold of Charizard from some japanese set. I also was quite fond of my Lugia and my Rocket's Mewtwo. I bought three packs of the Original Base Set cards one time and I got a Charizard, Blastoise, and a Venusaur in the three packs. I was in disbelief.

I had the yellow pack. I found someone to trade with so I had 149 pokemon. I leveled the bejesus out of around 30 of them, So I did switch things up a lot. I also played Pokemon Stadium so I had different leveled teams. I did have some odd charicters leveled pretty high though.
I remember that Gangar, Mewtwo, Zappados, Butterfree, Parisect, Alakazam, Articcunno, And Pickacu were constantly in my lv. 100 team
I had Dugtrio, lapress and Pigeott pretty high Fearo and Machocke were lv.50 staples that I just used for Staduim. Garados was in that group for a while.

Way back when I played Pokemon, my game of choice was Silver. My top team was a Tyranitar, Mewtwo, Ho'Oh (Was that what it was called? The phoenix one), Zapdos, Meganium and Ninetales. I'd caught like all but 20, got 3 to Lv100, and then I lost the save- I was low on battery, so savign whenever I did something of note so that if it switched off, I'd still be up-to-date. What happens? I save it, it gets to the SAVING DON'T TURN OFF THE POWER, then the battery cuts out. I switch it back on when I find some new batteries, but guess what? My save is gone. I'd had to use my old Yellow pack, my Crystal pack, and trades to get it to that stage. Years of gaming, gone in 1 second cos of a shitty battery.

I'm actually playing through Yellow right now (but only play when taking...erm... extended bathroom breaks).
Here is my current team...
Lv. 25 Pikachu Lv. 27 Charmeleon Lv. 25 Mankey Lv. 26 Sandslash Lv. 24 Nidorino Lv. 27 Fearow
Charmeleon is easily the worst Pokemon on my team. He dies all the time and is weak as all get out. In fact, I'm going to replace him right now...
*boots up Pokemon Yellow, walks to Celadon City Pokemon Center.*
Lv. 27 Charmeleon replaced with Lv. 13 Butterfree.

Was just checking up on the legendaries for Pearl (Not falling into the trap of Moltres who I didn't get in the first game due to not realising it would vanish after the fight, lol) and I find this chap How do I get him? I need three rare pokemon from the ruby/sapphire/emerald games ... and you only get one from each! So I now need to find some gullible people ... ;D Actually Regirock, Regice, and Registeel are all able to be caught in the same game(s) together.

Considering I'm pretty much only a fan of the RBY games (and damn proud of it), my line-up was: Raichu Blastoise Zapdos Electabuzz Magnaton I loved the electric types

In the original games, Pidgeot was always a staple in my team.
I would normally pick Charmander as my starter as ember totally decimates the bug catchers in Viridian forest, and Flamethrower.. just decimates... everything.
If I had the patience I would level of a Magikarp to get my Gyrados. And for the electric side of things.. Pikachu was a must in my book.
Grass type? Usually Victrebell, razor leaf with it's high critical hit ratio was always deadly.
And of course Nidoking was always to be found in my team... well, because he's Nidoking for cripes sake.
So:
Charizard Pidgeot Raichu Gyrados Nidoking Victrebell
