I'm pleased with the awards overall. I loved No Country for Old Men and am very glad it won so many awards.
I don't have my overall picks with me, so I don't know how I did with those. But I got 6 out of 8 on the big ones, missing both Actress awards by choosing Julie Christie and Amy Ryan.

Well, my favorite moment tonight was Jon Stewart letting the Czech girl, who's speech was cut out after winning for ONCE, do her speech after the fact.
Stewart is the man.

I agreed with most of the winners(key word being MOST...Golden Compass shouldn't have won...) tonight.
I personally really wanted Daniel Day Lewis to win, but if he didn't, well I wouldn't have minded, as all the nominees for Best Actor in a Lead Role were amazing actors.

The best moment was Glen Hansard Markéta Irglová winning for Once. I thought for sure one of those awful songs from Enchanted would win and I was shocked in a good way when Falling Slowly won.

I was glad for Glen Hansard winning for Best Song. He was great in the Commitments years ago.

Hopefully Javier Bardem can capitalize on his success and get some good film projects.
And not do what Louis Gossett Jr and Cuba Gooding Jr did after then won the Best Supporting Actor awards.

You mean you wouldn't like to see Javier Bardem in Snow Dogs 2?

I know next year he's in a movie where he plays notorious drug dealer Pablo Escobar(called "Killing Pablo"). It could be very, very good.

I'm calling it right now. Next year Frank Langella will win Best Actor for Frost/Nixon. That film looks damn good.

How about Michael Mann's PUBLIC ENEMIES? Johnny Depp as Dillinger, Bale as the lawman after him, David Wenham as Peter Pierport, Stephen Graham as Baby Face Nelson, Marion Cotillard* as Billie Frechette, Channing Tatum as Pretty Boy Floyd, Giovanni Ribisi as Alvin Karpis and Stephen Dorff as Homer Van Meter. From the Director of HEAT and COLLATERAL and THIEF...bitchin. *=Who won Best Actress last night.

From MSN UK"Plus, in fairness, there was one shocker that didn’t come from an aerosol can: The Golden Compass beating Transformers to Best Visual Effects. Apparently, Ian McKellen as a giant polar bear is more convincing than Optimus Prime. Hell, you have to love the Oscars." About right. Optimus got screwed!
