I'm pretty sure this falls under the category of "1996 to present."

I'm pretty sure this falls under the category of "1996 to present." Well, if so then the Mods should move it.

not really, we've all always known about this 'cycle of abuse' and its called a 'pro wrestling career', when you start out you job to the guys being pushed at/to the top and if you have what it takes to get to the top then people have to do the job to you

This is probably my favorite match of Hunter's entire career.

Maybe he is and maybe he's not, I mean it did happen in 96. As for the match, Hunter at the time was very low on the totem pole in WWE, so seeing him in a scenario like this didn't hurt him that badly as it's not like he was pushed as a main eventer, especially if he was coming off two feuds with Henry Godwinn and Duke "The Dumpster" Droese.

Sometimes I'm not sure I understand Triple H's hatred of his match against warrior. He's not the first...nor will he be the last...guy who's been squashed. Besides, it took a "legendary superstar" like the Ultimate Warrior to do this to him...and I'd rather be squashed like that, rather than go to the back and get squashed AGAIN by a nobody from the competion that WWE fans may or may not have even been familiar with... ... ... ... Oh, wait, that did happen, and H doesn't whine about Mero.

Besides...it would be worse...you could be the WORLD WRESTLING FEDERATION CHAMPION...and get squashed in 8 seconds by a tall no talent big guy like what happened to Backland with Diesal. At least H got some offense in. Backland, who was friggin' world champ didn't even get that f'ing much!

Not everyone who gets put in a squash gets upset about it.

I' d be pissed too if I had to look like a fool in front of an homophobic talentless egomaniacal moron.

Maybe, but at the time Warrior was a bigger name than Triple-H and as I'm sure he'll tell you, you got to do what they tell you to do. You may not like it, but that's how it goes. And he recovered quite nicely from it, so it's not like it was the end of the world.

In 1995-96, HHH was Hunter Hearst Helmsley, a guy feuding with Fatu, Henry Godwinn and Duke "the Dumpster" Droese leading up to his match with Warrior. Getting squashed by Warrior was not a big deal, and Hunter was hardly a main player at that point (he was a "curtain jerker" if anything).
By the time he got his big break (1997), no one even remembered him getting pinned by Warrior. It was just a way to re-introduce UW in a grand fashion.

I think he's a moron, but he was a wrestling legend at that time (though he's since looooong destroyed any legacy he might have had). As someone else said, at the time Hunter was fueding with some real doofus gimmicky characters. He was lucky to be in Wrestlemania and collecting that huge paycheck. (I don't think Duke the Dumpster or Henry O. Godwinn were on the card at that Wrestlemania...though I could be wrong and not remembering.)

In his book, Bret Hart stated he was kinda sad and upset at the way they treated Bob, but if that isn't how Bob felt, more power to him. I'm feeling ashamed that I'm defending Warrior, but unless it's one of his snuggle love buddies, I don't see current "World Wrestling Federation Champion" Triple H ever doing anything like that. Especially for a "huge potential up-and-comer" like Kevin Nash was at the time.

Especially for a "huge potential up-and-comer" like Kevin Nash was at the time. I know Bret didn't like losing the belt, but Nash says in his shoot that backstage that night after winning the belt to go out there and "make them love you" as he put it. Backlund put him over huge as he sold the jackknife like death and crawled all the way back to the dressing room. Plus it was a surprise way to change the belt, and also Nash mentions in his shoot that that match was probably much better than the rematches they had which lasted a lot longer and the agents like Brisco wanted Nash to do moves like a sunset flip which was clearly not needed for Nash to get over. It was probably the only time it happened, but it was a markout moment for the people there and for many fans watching it on TV that weekend.
