You know, that one room in your house that you tend to avoid going inside for some reason.
The house I lived in before my current one was rumored to have had a six-year-old boy die in the basement (I forgot the cause of death). Oddly enough, nothing strange ever happened when we went to do our laundry, but one time in one of the bedrooms in the back, I was listening to music and I suddenly felt something smack me in the back of the head.
I was alone in the room and for that matter, the house. Nothing had appeared to have fallen down anywhere in my vicinity.
And then another smack.
Needless to say, I moved all of the LPs and the stereo into the living room.

A friend of mine from Uni used to live in Room 237. Which is the dreaded room from the Shining, lol

An old building that used to be a jewelry shop in the days of Al Capone. We all hated the back of that place, it felt unsettling. After she moved to another location we did a search at the historical society on it. Apparently near everyone who worked there was killed, murdered. Related, I don't know.

Sometimes I think my toilette is haunted. It's always making weird noises, and it sometimes sounds like someone's taking a piss in it even though I'm home alone. I'm sure there's a perfectly reasonable explaination for my toilette making farting noises and such, but it still creeps me out when it's loud enough to wake me up in the middle of the night.

When I was a kid I grew up in a house that used to be owned by a doctor in the 1800's. Apparently, he used to operate in the house sometimes, and that place always freaked me out. It was the kind of place with cherub woodwork, stained glass, etc etc. In particular, I always felt like someone was behind me in the office, not sure why though.

grew up in a haunted pub (100+ year old building.), darts played middle of the night, beer barrels & empty bottles stacked at the end of the cellar waiting for the dreymen to collect on the correct day (when my dad couldnt be arsed at night and would get u early.) random sightings of a turn of the century dressed barman, and a room upstairs with an evil presence that never revealed itself physically but made you feel that it was there and watching.
also worked in a haunted pub (dance music.), where only the cellar was haunted.... could smell burning matches and pipe tobbaco at random times of the day. (there is a big difference between pipe and cigarette smoke's smells, i smoke cigs and my dad smokes a pipe so i can tell the difference.) more annoyingly often when i was in the cellar on my own after hours.

Two things, both of which were located on the US Navy base in Port Hueneme, California.
The Dental Clinic itself was home to two wandering spirits, one a dentist and the other a dental assistant. The dentist's spirit haunted the room where he worked, and was more mischevious, and playful. He would mess with the chair settings, and occaisionally things would turn on and off abruptly in the room. According to clinic lore, the dentist committed suicide in the clinic one night, and was found the next morning by the duty dental technician. If you were the duty dental tech, and it was your turn to close up and lock the clinic at night, sometimes if you stayed really still, you could hear his footsteps in the halls.
The second "clinic ghost" was that of a young female assistant who killed herself in her barracks room one night. Why she chose to haunt the clinic instead of her room is beyond me, but she tended to favor the X-ray darkroom. Again when you were alone in the clinic at night, and you had to be the one to turn off the lights and close and lock all the doors....you could just FEEL the anguish and bad vibes coming out of that darkroom. It got worse the closer you got to it, too. She was the one I was most afraid of.....he spirit seemed to be.....malevolent some how. Like she was angry at the world for not saving her, or angry at the dental technicians in particular for some reason. I know that I tried to communicate with her one night, alone in the darkroom....and the sheer.....just prescence of her in that room caused me to bolt the hell out of there, not to mention damn near have a heart attack. It was one of those moments where you're all alone in a room....except every sense you have is standing on end telling you otherwise, that if you'd only reach out your arm, you could touch whatever it IS that's there with you, that you cannot SEE but you KNOW is there, a foot in front of your face......
*BRRRRRR*
I also believed that MY barracks room was haunted....specifically the closet. I can't put my finger on it, but ANYTIME I slept with that closet door open, I had the worst nightmares and sleepless nights of my LIFE. If I got up and closed the door, the problem stopped. Never did get to the bottom of that one, but damned if other folks who slept in that room didn't agree with me that SOMETHING was going on in that closet.
I happen to be a believer in the theory that people have different degrees of sensitivity to the paranormal, too. Myself, I'm only mildly sensitive, meaning that while I cannot see, hear or really otherwise "communicate" with spirits, I can sense them, and pick up on their emotions, or the general "vibe" in their presence. My ex could actually see spirits, and had several encounters with them over the course of her life.

I beat each and every one of you: My whole house is haunted. First off, my house is a 'new' house. We bought it 11 years ago and were the first owners. No idea what it was before that.
Red crayon/pen marks have been mysteriously been appearing srcawled all over the house for a few years, with no explanation. Marks all over the bath, the microwave, the radiator. Go to bed one night, and the next morning there's marks on the living room floor (wood). I'm sat here at my PC holding a piece of paper making some notes, glancing up at my computer screen. Look at the paper, blank patch. Look at the PC screen. Look at the paper, red f'n mark. No joking.
Then, a tiny red pen turns up in a drawer. None of us have ever seen this pen before. It is too small to be of much use, with a very small ink capacity and transparent sides so you can see how much ink is left. Enough ink has gone to match the marks. We test, the marks this pen makes match identically. We decide to experiment by locking the pen in the most secure room in the house, which is one of the rooms where the marks haven't appeared. Few weeks pass, and the marks stop, but they have always tended to only appear once or twice every few months. Then, yesterday, on a NEW letter that I only recieved last Friday, another red mark is discovered.
And cross my heart, everything I have just written is 100% true. 100%. Explain that, Yvette Fielding and Most Haunted.

I was an infant in my crib and the house I grew up in was haunted by the former owner and she would turn the lights on and off, the radio on and off..make noises, bang doors and such BUT when it came to my room , she made sure I was in my crib asleep or she would literally hold me in a rocking chair in the dead of night..my mom came in and the ghost got pissed and floated my crib in the air while still holding me and it looked like i was floating in air..my mom made peace with her and she went away..... That spooks me out

Also not in my house, but the only time I ever thought I saw "something" was when I was about 12 or 13 my family took a trip to Gettysburg. We were walking by the old seminary at night and I could have sworn I saw a group of four soldiers, two from each side, fighting hand to hand and using bayonetts. I'm a pretty big skeptic, so for years I have tried to rationalize what I saw, but oh well.

That spooks me out Whoa. I think if that were my kid, I'd run into the room and grab him - out of thin air. Eeek. My friend's mom is a spiritualist and has seen all sorts of haunted and demonic activity. I don't have any haunted rooms, but there's this long street up in Oxford, Ohio where a guy wrecked his motorcycle and died. At night you can go to one end of the street and blink your lights three times, wait a minute or so and you'll see the headlights coming down the road towards you. You can see the They say if the lights drive past you, you'll get into an accident. We saw it, but it never passed us. Then we hit this huge racoon in the middle of the same street on the way back. Creepy!

I'm sorry but the red pen thing just screams someone in the house doing it. The fact that it stopped when you found and locked up the pen should have put the theory of ghosts to rest.

My mail often comes with marks on it. It's probably a ghost mailman.

Next time when in cementery go up to a grave and say the name on the tomb out loud and see what happens. I've had varying results I can't explain personally. For a second or two I'd see someone approach me. anyways........
I've have had pausible hauntings througfh out different points in my life but one I can say with certainty is back in '99/2000 I lived in an old hotel that had quite the bad past reputation as a rough place. People have died there in fights that got out of hand. It was back in the 1960's/70's it was a major outlaw biker gang hangout.
Every once and awhille when trying to get to sleep I'd see this man with curly hair and eye glasses who was dressed in work c;pthes The work clothes were like something you'd wear if you worked in a gas station or a fix-it garage. Believe me I'd be fully awake when seeing this figure and more so after it. I'll admit I was scared. I wish I wasn't. I regret that.
From what I saw this 'being' looked to be very interested in me. Bobbing his head up and down to get a better sight of me it would seem. You could definitely feel humanly presence when it would appear. I once got out of bed and darted towards the image 'being' and it (as I saw it) seriously went down into the floor and disappeared. I didn't get much sleep that night.
