Or are we sick of them yet? Whenever I read a review on any given WWII FPS game that comes out every Month the first thing is "here we go again..." So I kinda wonder does anyone actually play them anymore? I suppose they must cuz they still keep getting made, although there seems to be a shift towards "Modern warfare" these days, so will WWII be put back in the History books and off our PCs and Consoles? Another random though, why is it that theres like 1 Pacific Theater game for every 100 Eastern Theater game? Normady is ok to storm but Iwo Jima isn't or something?

Eh, I still have to finish Call of Duty 3. And I still play some battlefield and such, because WWII games are kind of fun.

Well, the whole Modern Warfare trend is taking a step back now. Call of Duty 4, the game that arguably made the shift from WW2 to Modern Combat popular and successful, is the last of the Modern CoD games for the forseeable future.
Call of Duty 5 is going back to World War II, sadly.
Oh, and the Medal of Honor series has yet to turn Modern.
So basically, WW2 is still a main thing.
As for the European Theater vs. Pacific Theater thing, I chalk it up to WWII Europe being easier to make into 3D than the Pacific Islands.

But Iwo will look alot like Guadacannal.

I'd mark out for a peace time FPS war game in which you're stationed at some calm little base just basically hanging out. I personally am sick of it. I've laid down my firearms, I've done. There's not any more historical and/or fictional conflicts I'd care to shoot my way through. It was like this with fighting games once. One after the other after the other. You'll notice they don't really make them anymore. Forgive me if I wish the First Person Shooter a similar fate.

Is there a Boer War game, where you can mow down the peaceful, fruit-eating tribesmen of the Umboato Gorge?

I always wondered why we don't get more medieval themed games that don't deal with fantasy. Like why aren't there first person sword games, or even that many third person knight games that do not include A) Orcs B) Wizards or C) levelling up.

I want a medieval FPS. You can be a knight, an archer, or hell a peasant.
Get 6000 people online, and you have one hell of an awesome game.

You get hit in the leg with a sword, well, youre dead You contract the plague, you're dead You walk around INCREDIBLY slow due to your armor You take an hour to load because you're puttin on said armor

Nobody cares about what actually used to happen, I guess. I created such a game in my head once but it had more to do with modern times. It was straightlaced though. No spells. No creatures. Just sword fights and people. I mean, you could make the "levels" newly acquired fighting techniques or survival skills and just do away with all the numbers. At least hide or downplay them. The fantasy genre is quite cliched.

I mean it would be like Wild Arms, but without the fantastical things. Maybe I am boring, but I like both western and medieval type games.

Cattle Rustler? Buffalo Hunter? Train Robber? Riverboat Gambler? Indian war chief? I'd be sick. However since it'd be a MMORPG, I'll bet there'd be too many Johny Ringos and not enough Doc Hollidays.

Imagine the saloon hookers in that game. In every town. Imagine them getting struck if they sassed you and remain silent less they get in serious trouble with their employer. Imagine the inconvienience of coming home to a burnt out village every odd day to find your house burnt, your wife violated and one of your fifteen kids abducted. Hell, you could play the role of some dude who simply shovels enough horse crap just to get to the whorehouse.

I still think the idea of a Mass Effect type game with a western theme would be awesome. There is still plenty of room for different abilities, a doctor, a sharpshooter, a regular gunslinger, etc etc. Also, westerns are usually pretty dramatic and perfect for hard hitting story, and so I wish they would make more.
As far as WWII goes, there are only few that I am interested in these days, and they have to have big twists usually. Case and point Turning Point. I mean, America is invaded by the Nazis, that's a pretty cool concept. But honestly, when they are digging through the history channel for the most obscure battles that there are, that's when they should quit.
