The comeback I'm dreaming of would be as a manager or something as my doctors advise me not to wrestle again because of my bladder. A few additional thoughts I've had about my cancer: I'm quite lucky to have entered into, and reaching the end of my treatment without a lot of pain, and side effects. Others have not been so lucky, and I consider myself VERY fortunate. I have to say though, walking around a hospital where every patient has had or has cancer, which is a lot of times a death sentence, I've never seen so many brave people. Smiles are common place there. I think this helped me as well seeing people that I thought were worse off than myself, being brave and cheerful. Also a year ago I was already planning what I wanted done at my funeral. I've had a great life, travelled around every state and province in the US and Canada, so planned on having Johnny Cash's "i've been everywhere" played. It looks like that will have to wait, though! 'Quake I'm glad to hear you're recovering so well and if the WWE had any brains, they would induct you into the Hall of Fame at Wrestlemania XXII. I think you earned a spot. It would be great to see you back in the WWE. God bless you, Quake.

Dear Mr. Tenta -
When you speak of 'pokings and proddings', as well as being a 'pin cushion' I can greatly understand what that's like.
You see, I was born with a malfuctioning heart valve, that required three open heart surgeries, from birth to age five. As a result, they ended up replacing my mitral valve with an artificial one. After I was born, the doctors gave me a life-span of only a few weeks. By kindergarten, although I had medication to take, I could live a healthy life.
By age twenty (five years ago) the doctors decided my artificial valve was too small, and I had to undergo a fourth surgery. Due to unforseen complications, my recovery period was two months longer than anticipated. I was forced to wait out a semester of college, and became depressed. My energy was sapped, and I feared I'd never be the same.
Now, I'm happy to say I'm at the strength I used to be, I've since graduated from college, and the only constant is I have pills to take every day, and blood to be drawn at least once a month. Once I understood that God wouldn't quit on me, I've enjoyed life.
I got over my hump, and I'm positive you will as well. Thank you for the years of entertainment, and for reading this piece.

Thanks alot Mr. John Earthquake Tenta. I am glad to hear you are doing good. You were a part of the most memorable era of wrestling for me personally. I will never forget your moments in the ring. You are a WWE World Champion in my book. Take care and please continue with the updates. My wife's father passed away from a battle with cancer last year. Hearing your experiances is very helpful in the healing process for us. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Edit: Just fixing your post there. -Kash

1. I can't believe I am chatting with someone of your calibar. You are a true living legend
2. I'm glad you are thinking of coming back to the WWE. I'd like you to become more of a Road Agent though. Not a trainer. Like Ted Dibiase now.
3. I'm glad you are recovering alot from your Cancer. I always had total faith and respect for your Survival. Even before I knew you.

I second just about everything Mr. Perfect just said.
I firmly believe that recovery, and one's own personal health, can be rooted in their own faith and belief system. Just as you have trusted God to heal your body after your bout with cancer, so has He done so. Its remarkable, and I never thought I'd well up talking about it with a pro wrestler I watched growing up, but damnit, my eyes just leaked a little. I'm not ashamed to admit it, though ;D.
You've been a true asset to us as fans, as WrestleCrappers, and as friends. I know you've heard it time and time again, but John, thank you. It could be so easy for some athletes and veterans to shrug off the fans (especially the internet fans), but you've taken us in and shared the laughs. I can't thank you enough for that, and each time I hear about the progress your health is taking, I can't think of anyone who deserves it more. Congratulations with your continual recovery.
In my own situation, I have a little cousin who was diagnosed with chilhood leukemia at the age of 2. He comes from a very religious family, and thanks to their strong trust in the Lord, along with regular chemo treatments, I can happily report that his health has improved, and has since been given a clean bill of health. He's now 5 years old and the last time I saw him, he was just as energetic as any other 5-year-old. I may not be the most religious person in the world, (let's just say I hope that St. Peter has the Cliff's Notes of my life when I get to the pearly gates) but I'm happy to see people like yourself putting their trust in God instead of just hoping for the best with modern medicine.
The best is yet to come, my friend. Good luck and God Bless.

I agree with Hypnotix...Faith and Belief, and the Power of Prayer DOES work!
As 'Quake knows, as we've known each other for years, I too AM a cancer survivor! I'm not sure if I told him that when I was diagnosed with cancer, I was given 5 years TOPS to live. Mine was a different form of cancer than his. Anyway...when told this, I told the doctor "Just watch me!". On the 5th Anniversary of my diagnosis, I went back to my doctor and said "Here I am!". He took me to the most lavish dinner I have EVER had...just to celebrate!
How long has it been since I was told that I had 5 years tops to live? Well...in October, it will be 25 YEARS! And, I crerdit it ALL to my Faith, my Beliefs, and the Prayers of family, friends, and of course...MY OWN!

If you ever become a manager, you GOTTA somehow hook up with Hurricane. Earthquake + Hurricane = NATURAL DISASTERS 2000...oh wait its 2005 now so that wouldn't work. Damn.

John, Youre the Earthquake!! The Avalanche!! The Shark!! I saw you in WCW almost beat the Giant when he was good. You also whipped Andres ass speaking of Giants. And what about what you did to Hulkamania? You came centermeter away from ending it! You should have taken Vaders spot as WCW Champ. Youre much better and Vader was good. My point is...what chance does a measley cancer have against you. Give it the quake Johnny! Seriously though, im gonna say a special prayer for you every night until all traces of cancer are purged from your body. Keep your chin up Quake! God is on your side, ill see to it personally. Good luck and God Bless you. ;D

Yes it can. Turn Hurricane heel and send him to Smackdown to dominate the cruisers with 'quake as his manager.
God willing you can pair up as a tag team and win the tag titles.

'Quake,
I think it was Atticus Finch in "To Kill A Mockingbird" who once said that being brave means going through with whatever you have to do even knowing that the odds are stacked against you. I certainly know which category you fall into.
My wife works for the National Cancer Institute (by the way, if you need ANYTHING at all, please feel free to PM me or e-mail me) and she sees this every day. She's amazed at the bravery and perserverence of the human spirit. This is what's going to get you through this. You've already proven that, as tenacious and driven you were in the ring, you're ten times as much outside of the ring.
We wish you well and, of course, look forward to the day when, watching either RAW or Smackdown!, we hear the familiar rumble that we know heralds the arrival of some very, very bad news (for other wrestlers and stockings filled with chopped meat, anyway).
All the best, Captain Ron

Thanks Captainron. I have been probably more brave for my family than for myself. I pray that when I am on my deathbed, I will still be at peace. I'm sure I will. I think seeing others that are much worse than myself still being able to smile(breaking my heart) has kept my spirits, and strength up. There are truly some amazing people there. 'Quake
