Andy and Allison.
Though I loved the part where the princaipal kept giving Bender detentions and the part where Bender says "Can you hear this? Want me to turn it up?"

Bender and Vernon kind of remind me of Austin and Vince.

Bender gets all the love but, at the end of the day, he's a person without answers to life's questions that feels obligated to bully others on their answers to life's questions. He's not a font of profundity so much as a hurt kid who, instead of helping others deal with the problems, hurts others to make himself feel better and righteous. I've know many, many people like him and it gets really old at the end of the day.
I'd say Claire is my favorite: the ambiguities about her character are the deepest. Everyone has the felt the need to be the popular kid, many people have acted in the shallow way she has, and that interests me. I could care less about the rebel telling everyone else how to be better people: been there, done that, seen it in too many movies and books to know that it's a pipe dream. You're a rebel not because you're more "real" or "edgier" than others, you're a rebel because you see life in extremely polarized, black and white terms that are far too convenient to ever be true.
Normally, hey let's laugh along and watch the rebel do cool things, it would work. But "the Breakfast Club" is more serious than that and I don't think it wants you to admire Bender. He goes after Claire for being the way she is without realizing he's better looking than most people and most people would kill to be that "cool" and that "rebellious". It's tough for everyone around, but Bender is the type of guy, and I know you know that type of guy, that feels his particular brand of suffering is so much worse than everyone else's and that makes him a better person because of it.

Like many of you, when I first saw this movie, way back when it came out, I agreed with Bender about the other characters but, now, watching as an adult who's been around the block a few times, now realize how pathetic he really is. And to make himself feel better, instead of looking at himself, he points out everyone elses faults. To be truthful, the realest characters of the movie are Carl and Vernon. Vernon is spot on in his assessment of Bender and Bender knows Vernon is right about him. Remember when he made the comment about Bender in 5 years? Look at Bender's face. That really hit home with him. I don't know how many people posting on these boards are over 35 but I'd like to hear your feelings on this movie from an adult perspective.

I always liked how Vernon was more messed up than any of the kids. That guy was a real authoritarian psychopath.

I like Brian best. Andy - "What do you need a fake ID for anyway?"
Brian - "So I can vote."

We discuss physics. And properties of physics. OK so it's social. Demented and sad......but social.

Bender.
I remember marking out for the BC reunion at the MTV awards like 3 years ago. Unfortunately, only Anthony Michael Hall, Molly and Ally Sheedy were there. What a disappointment, I heard Judd Nelson was there but backed out at the last minute....

This is one of those movies where you wonder what happens to the characters after the credits roll.
