I just got done with the "Snow Blind" mission. After hearing everyone up here talk about how tough it was going to be I was like "Oh no!" when I saw it come up. It was easy though.

I'm on the mission where you chase Vlad. I haven't got to play a lot since I got it...I figured. I'll block him in. So I line up about 5 cars in front of the alley...go in, he runs.....every car but the one I drove over to the bar in the first place is gone...he smashes into my car, which sends it flying into the building across the street.

Lets see.... 1 - I similarly don't understand how anyone could fail No Love Lost. Was easy as HELL for me, I just chased the bikers into a wooded area, rammed the leader to make him crash, then everyone got off their bikes and started shooting at me....I hit behind a tree and popped them all, I think I only got hit twice or so. 2 - I dont understand why everyone keeps saying to use a bike on Ruff Riders. Why? THERE IS NO BIKE! I know everyone keeps saying there is but I have NEVER seen one. Where the f*** is it supposed to be? I can control them just fine if I could ever f'n find one for this mission. 3 - I beat it ONCE, then, while I'm running from the cops, that stupid polack Niko decides to pull out his phone and call Dwayne and stop running WHILE THE COPS ARE SHOOTING ME. By the time I get back to my car, I die, and in typical cheap GTA fashion I have to start ALL over. No matter what I can't beat it a second time. Whoever thought up things like this should be beaten severely. 4 - I really want Mario Kart Wii but I probably won't get it because I'm REALLY sick of the "rubber band AI" the series has and apparently this game is the worst yet. I don't want to be punished for being in first place. 5 - Nerf controllers wouldn't help. I'd just bite them and rip chunks out of them. I used to bite down on the cord of my SNES controller then jerk it right outta the pad. Luckily my dad could somehow always fix it lol. 6 - Anyone who warns Best Buy about me is a DEAD MAN Not only reported to the Best Buy, but reported to Atlanta City Police Department........

I don't think it's cheating so much as "Making you play the mission as it was intended".

I don't think it's cheating so much as "Making you play the mission as it was intended". Freedom of choice when doing missions has always been one of GTA's stronger points, though. At least in GTA3 and for the most part in Vice City, San Andreas had a bit too many "use this vehicle or FAIL" missions for my liking. I remember this one mission from GTA3 where you were supposed to waste that chef in Chinatown and this could be done in at least three different ways (ram his car off the road, jack his car beforehand and dispose of him on foot.. or my personal favorite, rig his car with a bomb)

The game would just be a simplistic breeze through if they allowed you to do that all the time on every mission. Especially by sealing off every single manor of escape. Also, like Matt says, it wouldn't make sense as far as the story goes. Cheating constitutes the game going outside of it's normal parameters to make sure you can't do something. This is not a case of that, it's just a case of how the game is designed and supposed to be.

GAH! I didn't notice that little "before the mission" detail. Whoops, feel free to ignore me and my ramblings then. ;D

I still say its cheating. If I do something, it should stay done. If you wanna get picky and say "Well Niko wouldn't know to do that" I can say "Well I wouldnt stand back and watch while someone I'm supposed to kill gets on a bike and escapes" or "I wouldnt get on my cell phone to call someone while the cops are filling my back with lead, costing myself the f***ing mission yet again" Freedom of choice when doing missions has always been one of GTA's stronger points, though. If I park cars on the sidewalk then go back to them later, they're still there. Yet if I park them in the road to block something, they magically vanish.

If anyone hasn't read it, I would just like to point out the news story "Videogame Violence" on the Liberty Tree website. It's another of Rockstar's hilarious jabs at the critics of video games in the media.

I know an easy way to get the 40 achievement points for one man army (6 stars for 10 minutes) Get out to the water, and find a speed boat, take it, and find a cop boat. Fire on him, killing if possible, wait for others to show up, and its instant 6 star. If you have the speed boat, you can keep just ahead of them w/ out getting shot for the alotted time needed to get the achievement.

Stick with the standard control system. I changed it back to classic when I started the game and it made one of the missions later on impossible, so I`m now re-learning how to drive and shoot, which sucks. I've had no problems with Classic yet. How is it impossible (without spoilers)? Later on you have to control a boat and shoot other boats at the same time. With classic control you`ll have to take your finger off accelerate to aim your gun, which means you can`t protect the boat in front. There are other missions involving cars which are the same deal.

Dude, it's not cheating. The mission is SUPPOSED to be that way. The game isn't breaking it's own coding to screw you over.
But it doesn't matter anyway, we're arguing semantics more then anything and it's not that big a deal either way.

Thanks for the advice. Although I've heard boats are the only mechanic in the game that actually controls decently with the SIXAXIS motion control. I'll see which scheme works best for me when I reach it. And today I beat Ruff Rider on my first try. Don't see what the big deal was.

If I park cars on the sidewalk then go back to them later, they're still there. Yet if I park them in the road to block something, they magically vanish. Yeah, the first time I did it, I didn't know what the mission was, so I walked. So there was no car for me. The next time I knew where he escaped, so I parked my car nearby for an easy chase. Vlad rammed it and was off, I had to go chase my f***ing car down the street as it rolled away (in park apparently). So next time I try blocking everything off and it gets rid of every car cept my original. So, if you wanna argue Niko wouldn't know he was gonna run, I guess I should be able to beat the mission by foot, because it's intended for everything that happens to Nicko to be a surprised to him. The plot isn't open ended, it works towards a conclusion. So how I complete a mission doesn't matter, so long as it's completed. Besides, any city chase follows the same path every time, so you can argue if you play each chase enough you can simply remember where he's going, also knowledge Nicko would never have.
