Yeah, this was posted before, but it's still funny. Fake brothers (other than Kane and the Undertaker) are off limits but fake sons are all right, right Vince?

Well, to be fair to Vince, Edge & Christian hasn't been referred as "brothers" in a long long time.
Kane and Taker are now half-brothers IIRC, and even that is brought up only when they remember/want to.
Kayfabe in that sense is long gone, and who can blame WWE? A quick search on Google and real names will come up, so it'd be a bit stupid pretending people are related when they aren't

Yet they didn't change their names to their real names, just different fake names?

Brian Myers and Matt Cordona aren't exactly showstealing wrestling names though, are they?

yep nothing Vince hates more than to use fake brothers, not including all three Dudleys, Edge and Christian, Kane and Undertaker, Billy and Bart Gunn, All the Godwins, Jesse and Festus e.t.c, e.t.c

So does Vince also believe that Undertaker and Kane are really brothers?

But the appeal of being the first one to triumphantly enter in a room (real or chat it's the same) and saying "you know the Majors aren't really brothers but their names are so and so..." is worth it! At least I bet it is for some hardcore smart fan.

They're not billed as related now.

They're not billed as related now. Yeah, I think they were cousins or something in that first promo they did, but then they dropped the Dalton name and tweak the gimmick. When they started running their vignettes a few weeks later it was just Jesse introducing us to his partner Festus, no mention of being related, or last names giving.

What does that say to the staff when the boss doesn't even know your real names to figure out you are not brothers?

What does that say to the staff when the boss doesn't even know your real names to figure out you are not brothers? That the boss has a massive staff working under him, and until recently the Major Brothers were somewhere down near the bottom, importance-wise? The CEO of my company certainly couldn't put a name to my face, doesn't reflect badly on either of us, just means he is too busy to concern himself with me.

Nice how that story left out how Vince decided to change it because he respected the intelligence of fans to look up and know that. Listing Kane/Taker is silly because it was built storyline-wise while the Majors were just brought in as brothers and brothers alone (In other words, not their gimmick).
How dare that stupid Vince...think we're...smart...
Great story.

I'm of the opinion that there would have been plans in place to put them with Edge a long while before this supposed story took place. I think this is almost as bad as the 'HHH changes the Hardy result' by saying that all of a sudden it emerged that they weren't real brothers, and so creative thought 'I know, lets throw them in a storyline with the biggest star on that roster'.
Remember that title shot they got against MVP/Matt about 6 weeks ago? When they were still The Majors? It looked pointless from the outside, but I bet it was purely an excercise to make the Majors seem more important and thus make the eventual turn they would have look like more of a shock/make people care.
The story just looks ridiculous to me.

When Kane mad his first appearence, not everyone had the internet, it was 1997(?) It was still expensive and people only got access to it rarely, same with Edge and Christian. I mean the Kane storyline was far-fetched as hell, so you knew it wasn't real and that they were not brothers. The WWE is, nowadays more of a soap opera with pre-determined matches, you don't tune in to be entertained by matches alone, you want to find out what happens next in a feud or what the next development of a story is. The illegitimate son angle is proof of that, people tuned in to find out what happened.

What does that say to the staff when the boss doesn't even know your real names to figure out you are not brothers? At least he seems to give a crap about pushing for the former Majors to have a chance to succeed with a higher profile gimmick. They were going nowhere as The Major Brothers.
