You have to realize that all of the 8 year old Cena fans aren't busting the doors down to get the 20 disc Royal Rumble, Summerslam, and Wrestlemania Anthology sets either. Those sets are marketed towards the longtime fans, so I don't really see your logic in that. If anything they can promote it with guys like Flair, Rhodes, The Horsemen, Sting, Hogan, etc. it would sell just as well as the other anthology collections. I'm sure they do their market research on this stuff, and all the guys you mentioned can be promoted as part of a "best of" DVD. I don't think we really need Brian Adias, Johnny Weaver, and Pez Whatley on at WWE DVD release. Some people like to have complete shows and not clipped footage that WWE picks and chooses. I would gladly pay $150 or so for a 20 DVD set featuring complete PPVs over a $20 DVD for a Best of set featuring already released matches or matches that I do not consider a "Best of." And besides it is not like those Anthology box sets are something that your local Wal*Mart gets 50 copies of at release and sits there for the next 4 years. * * note - This comment may or may not apply to your local Wal*Mart, however ever since the Wrestlemania Anthology came out, I have seen next to none of the box sets sitting on the shelf. As always, your mileage may vary.

But the 8 year old Cena Fans didn't buy the Rise and Fall of ECW, which IIRC is the best selling WWE DVD except for the Wrestlemanias. Starrcade is important to 80's/90's Wrestling history. Maybe not on the scale of Wrestlemania, but still important. I'd love to see it released in maybe the smaller volumes that the WWE does with the other anthologies. Or even in the UK as Tagged Classics. You're basically proving my point. Those high priced box sets are generally harder to come by just because of the price. I've only seen the box sets at stores like F.Y.E. and Sam Goody. In fact I bought the Mania box set when I worked at Sam Goody so I got my employee discount and I got the Rumble box set online when it came out. And I've only seen that set in F.Y.E. stores and no place else. Like you said, Starrcade is an important PPV in wrestling history. It was basically NWA/WCW's version of Wrestlemania and it should be released as a box set. And besides there was never 20 Starrcades so it is not like they would charge as much as they charge for the Mania and Rumble sets.

those all seem to be solid dvd choices, even without any info on any of them, looks like the 'E' will be getting alot of money this coming year.

I'd love to see a Starrcade anthology but i can't see them doing one,i could see them doing a Best of 3 DVD set with maybe the entire first Starrcade being the 3rd disc or something like that.

I personally want the Starrcade and Sting DVDs. If the Macho Man DVD isn't done 'Self-Destruction' style, I'll get it. I just hope the WWE has the rights to all of Sting's entrance themes.

The best of starrcade could be a test to see if a starrcade anthology would sell.

this week's wrestling Observer newsletter has a new, list of scheduled DVDs for the year: 2/12 -- The Legacy of Stone Cold Steve Austin 3/25 -- Triple H: The King of Kings 5/6 -- Evolution of the Hardys 6/3 -- The Rock 7/8 -- Best of Starrcade 8/5 -- 20-disc SummerSlam Anthology 8/5 -- Life and Times of Mr. Perfect 11/4 -- Edge 11/18 -- RANDY SAVAGE: MACHO MADNESS 12/9 -- STING Of course that subject to change (especially the Sting one, if he ends up re-signing with TNA). But I am shocked that WWE is actually releasing a Savage DVD. Holy Crap! That the best DVD lineup I have ever seen! I must have The Rock DVD

Great additions to any wrestling shopping list. Although, I am a bit worried about the Savage DVD. I don't believe in the rumors, but if they are true and/or if Vince holds some serious grudge we could get another DVD similar to that of the Ultimate Warior's or the one that almost featured Bret Hart. We could get lines similar to:
Heenan: Nobody ever wanted to be around the guy. Vince: I COULD NOT wait to fire him!

That is a sick DVD line up for '08.
The Savage(if it's not a complete and utter burial of Savage),Mr. Perfect, and Austin DVD's are must buys for me. I hope the Summerslam anthology is released in separate volumes out of the gate.

brief opinion on this.
2/12 -- The Legacy of Stone Cold Steve Austin-depending on how they handle his WCW and ECW stuff, this could be awesome. I hope they have a good hour just on his pre-stone cold stuff. I never was too big a fan of that character. Might Buy
3/25 -- Triple H: The King of Kings-As long as its not a 3 hour verbal BJ, it would be good. Regardless of what you think of him backstage, he's put on a lot of very good matches in his career.I still am not too fond of DVDs being put out when the superstar is still active. Might Buy
5/6 -- Evolution of the Hardys- Could have some great matches on it, and if they but some OMEGA stuff on there, it could be fascinating. But like with the HHH DVD, I don't like DVDs about guys who are still active(especially since the Hardyz could easily wrestle another 10 years each)50/50 chance
6/3 -- The Rock-Depends on how its handled. If its just matches, then no. If there's a doc, then yes.50/50
7/8 -- Best of Starrcade-Probably one of the most promising out of these. And could mean more WCW releases(a part of the library that has been basically untouched)Will Buy
8/5 -- 20-disc SummerSlam Anthology-Already have the RR and WM sets, so this is a given. Wish Survivor Series would come out this year, too. Will Buy
8/5 -- Life and Times of Mr. Perfect-He was a little before my time, but if they cover his AWA, WWF, and WCW stuff, it could be good 50/50
11/4 -- Edge-Read the final lines of HHH/Hardy for my thoughts.Might
11/18 -- RANDY SAVAGE: MACHO MADNESS-Oh Hell Yes! As long as its not a warrior-job DVD. I hope it leads to an action figure or two Must buy(if not a burial)
12/9 -- STING-Read SavageMust Buy

Awesome DVD lineup, but I'm worried about the Summerslam set. I hope WWE doesn't edit out You Know Who, because if I'm going to be paying $200 for the set then I want the whole thing.
