With this WWE era of the Rumble and MITB, where each gimmick used at times to propel a wrestler, or try at least, to the main event scene.....I miss KOTR.
It built up wrestlers as tough badasses who survived several matches, in the same night, and without a title-shot-guarantee.
Imagine if it was back seriously, with guys from all three brands....and used to push some people (Matt Hardy, MVP, CM Punk, whatever) to the moon without involving the top strap itself.
Oh well.

For some reason, I like the idea that if the King of the Ring were brought back, Randy Orton would be the winner.
Randy Orton as King seems interesting to me.

If it was brought back I'd like to see MVP win it against Flair in the final the build up would be cool for the old school vs new school king!

I'd like to see Santino win. It would be the greatest stuff... in the history of our sport!

Now that the PPV's are no longer single branded, KOTR SHOULD be brought back but it won't be. If WWE ever brings it back it'll be another lame TV tournament like the last one.

The one they did to start the King Booker gimmick was definitely lame. The last couple they did with as a PPV were not that great either if I remember right. I wouldn't mind seeing it again, but it would probably get stale again eventually.

I miss it... I'm a sucker for tournaments in general, I miss The Crockett Cup just as much. I have Survival of the Fittest now-a-days tho so it makes up for it.

I thought they where. 00 help elavated Kurt Angle into the Main Event picture where he stayed. 01 Pushed Edge as a singles wrestler. The last one in 02 pushed Brock to the ME and it also included a very good Jericho vs. RVD match. Which for those guys it worked for them. All did well after winning. Granted two of the three are no longer with the company. But all Main Eventer when they where and Edge is still one now. Angle in another company is. Lensar would be if he was still in Wrestling at all.

I think it would have worked well last Summer as they were trying to give him that big push to build him back up for the program with Cena. Plus if they decided to use the stip of the winner getting a title shot at Summerslam, that would have fit in perfectly as well.

The "King" gimmick can be done just so many times before it gets boring... And few performers can successfully work it...
Plus, WWE have already an overcrowded PPV schedule, so KotR would just be lost in the shuffle, becoming just another PPV.

I too miss the king of the ring. Tournaments are always welcome in my book. This would be a great way to establish some guys. I would even go as far as using this tourny to as a way to have vets put some of the younger guys over due to some well placed interferences to build side feuds that are settled at the PPV as stand alone matches.
I would put this in the place of one of their throw away PPVs.

Well, that and Mabel. But, they have done alright with him as Viscera and Big Daddy V, so maybe not a total loss there.

Brock Lesner = RR anyone?

If they did decide to do this on PPV, and had Teddy Hart not been Teddy Hart and got himself fired, they could have built him up as the 3rd gen Hart, who's got the genealogy to win, like his uncles Bret and Owen...and built a story around it by making him the kind of underdog character, lasting out against previous winners like Big Daddy V in the preliminaries, some how gets to the finals and wins the Big One - harking back to the heyday of the Hitman.
He could even re-introduce the King of Harts gimmick (God, I miss Owen)
We could have had a Hart champion in the WWE in the 21st century.

I miss King of the Ring, since it was a good rub for an up-and-comer. Also, you had the built in "All Hail King (blank)" gimmick for heels, even if it does grow tiring.
Also, tournaments and "beat the clock" challenges make for good TV.

I miss that as well. Tournaments can really be a way for a good wrestler to shine, like Bret Hart. I'd like to see it brought back this year, and for CM Punk to win.
Also, why does WWE like to piss on their old PPVs? They eliminated King of the Ring. They turned the Survivor Series into a regular PPV for a while and, if I'm right, it still doesn't follow the same format that it once did. They even changed the Rumble at one point, and made it onl half as long.
