I don't know what to say. I just wanted to post something to pay my respects.
As others have said, it was really nice of him to post here and answer all of our questions. At least we can take comfort in the fact that he did about as well as any of us can do in life; he was a good person, and was successful at doing what he loved.

Another star from the past dies. I will forget watching WWF Superstars back in May of 1990, watching Tenta crush Hogan on the Brother Love show.
I met him once at some indie show years ago, and he was nice to shake hands. Never heard any bad stories on him.
All the wrestling stars I grew up with as a kid as leaving. Its getting real depressing, but at the same time I know Tenta is free right now from the pain and a better place.

I am saddened. John was a real class act. You could tell how much he loved people when you hear his interviews. While I personally feel some impact (I still have a PM from him saved), I really feel for his family. Their loss is incomprehensible, and my heart goes out to them.

Ah this sucks. No more pain for the big man at least. I remember as a little kid hating him for being up the beloved Hulk Hogan. He was great. RIP

Good luck in Shangri-La friend. I never met you or anything but your matches were cool and I was always counting that you would beat cancer. Well, my wishes and everything go out to his family.

I cannot think of a superstar who was a better friend to his fans or to the wrestling community in general than John Tenta. Neither this board or this site will ever be the same again. My deepest condolences to his family, freinds, and fans.

Although I didn't watch wrestling during his glory days, I know enough about Mr. Tenta to know that he was a class-act, a grade-a entertainer, and a true gentlemen, especially to his fans. God Bless You, John and your family, my heart goes out to all of you.
RIP

Rest in peace Mr. Tenta. It devesates me whenever a wrestler passes away before their time.
Heaven needed an Earthquake.

One of my earliest wrestling memories is the fear and intimidation that the evil, mighty Earthquake would inspire in a little six year old Hulkamaniac. Worse than that, there was the time he nearly made that same little six year old cry when it seemed he was really killing Damian the Snake.
But all of that just contributes to a great, great legacy, of one of the defining faces of early 90's mainstream wrestling.
The first great monster heel I ever knew as a wrestling fan; he will be sorely missed, and not just by his family, but by a countless number around the world.

Goodbye 'Quake. May God be with your family at this time, as we all know you are with God. We will all miss you more than we could ever hope to say.
P.S. Don't let Eddie cheat too bad when you to face off up there.

Earthquake John Tenta...R.I.P. My Friend

I HATE my computer!
I've been trying to get online almost all day, but this damn machine wouldn't let me on.
Anyway...I've lost a TRUE friend. When I first heard this TERRIBLE news this morning, I was DEVASTATED!
I knew John from our days together in the WWF. I was in Wheeling, W.V. the night that John debuted in WWF, during the Dino Bravo-Ultimate Warrior "push-up contest", when he was "picked" out of the crowd.
Then there was the "killing of Damien" segment on WWF Superstars, taped in Las Vegas, the night after WrestleMania VII. I was the one who gimmicked the "snake bag" with the "contents". John and I had a lot of laughs on THAT angle!
I know I'm rambling here...BUT, I'm grieving the lose of a friend, so I hope you'll bear with me for a moment!
Anyway...I spoke with John's wife just a few days ago. I posted about it in another thread.
But...I DIDN'T post that day the fact that Mrs. Tenta had told me that while he WAS home, he WAS under the care of HOSPICE. I immediately knew that John was NOT going to get better and that the end was near.
I DREADED going online EVERY day since then...KNOWING that THIS day was coming SOON.
GOD BLESS John Tenta's SOUL, and may the Lord Above watch out over his family, his friends AND his fans, who are ALL grieving along with me TODAY!
