Obviously John was a tremendous wrestler, and an even better man, but what is your favorite in-ring memory of him?
I didn't start watching his first time around in WWF, but I have seen a lot of his past work on tape. I think my very favorite moment is his sumo match with Yokozuna on Raw. Don't know why, but it's the first thing I think about when I remember his career.
What about you guys?

Being too young to have seen most of his stuff, my personal favourite was killing Damien. The way he bounced off the ropes a few times more made you wonder if he was really going to do it, then BLAM!

I loved the Hogan feud. I hated Quake then (which means he was doing his job as a heel), but, even as a kid I respected him. I remember reading a wrestling magazine at school that had Hogan/Quake on the cover, and some kid called Quake fat or something similar. Without even thinking, I responded that he wasn't fat, he was extremely strong and powerful, etc. Shut his ass up, lol.

The sumo match, hands down. To see Quake, who was on his way down the ladder a bit after a long and successful run, beat THE main event monster heel in WWF was just completely unexpected and a memory I have long treasured as one of those great unpredictable moments.

Watching Tenta just tear up a guy McMahon had pushed hard in a total squash was so unexpected and cool.

MY favorite Earthquake Momen STILL is the "squashing" of Jake "the Snake" Roberts snake, "Damien"!
I have told the story of how I was involved with the behind-the-scenes preparation of this angle, in another thread...with John's permission.
John and I had MANY laughs about this moment in WWF/E history! Like John said...it's just too bad that WWF didn't make more of this feud. It would have been a REAL money-maker!

My favorite Earthquake moment has to be at Royal Rumble '93, which is where the Earthquake-Yokozuna feud started, b/c those two giants met in the center of the ring, and Yokozuna did the sumo stomp, Earthquake jumped up and down, and they just charged into each other and it was awesome. That was the moment that cemented my Earthquake fandom.

Probably the sumo match against Yokozuna during an early Raw.

Not one particular moment, but I got into wrestling right after his Summerslam 90 match with Hogan, and they were still feuding. He was thus the first mega-heel I came to know.

Yep, and the corny cut away scenes to Sean Mooney. My favorite one, and when he cut a wrestling promo on me in off topic somewhere. I marked like a school girl who just saw a half off sale at the gap.

When he squashed Hogan on Brother Love's Show. Like someone said earlier he made me hate him so much, so he was doing his job very well
RIP Quake

Definitely his feud with Hogan. The WWF lacked main event heels at the time, and John made the most out of his opportunity. I remember really looking forward to Hogan/Earthquake at Summerslam.

The Avalanche Vs. Sting match from Starrcade '94. Since the moment I saw said match, it's always been one of my favorites.

I have to say I have a few.
- I still remember coloring a picture of him in my WWF coloring book
- The Snake Burgers
- Sitting on the poor unsuspecting bastards in the greatest arcade game ever: Wrestlefest. My bro and I to this day call that move "The Big Butt"
- vs Yoko at the Royal Rumble
But my main memory of him is him stomping in the ring as Jimmy Hart hops up and down. I'll never forget him coming down the isle with the rumbles on the loudspeakers, yelling and holding up a finger to the camera. I think I'm gonna go watch some old WWF tapes. Get in a quakin mood.

The Avalanche Vs. Sting match from Starrcade '94. Since the moment I saw said match, it's always been one of my favorites. Same here. It was probably the best match on the card.(That's not saying much, though. The main event was Hogan vs. The Butcher) I have it recorded on VHS.
