They're laying the groundwork for a Randy Orton face turn probably a few months from now.

They're laying the groundwork for a Randy Orton face turn probably a few months from now. I certainly hope not. RAW is short on ME heels but not faces. Plus, Orton sucks as a face. And a lot of people will never cheer him because he's a douchebag of epic proportions in real life.

I think they'll make Orton the de facto tweener/face in Cena's absence. And if HHH does become involved, Orton will still be the lesser of two evils next to JBL.

I like it. Its new. Its different. Its WWE at least trying to break out of the "same old, same old" if only for a little bit. Even if it fails, which so far is not how I see it, then at least they are giving an effort at something fresh. Which is kind of what most everyone around here has been asking for. I say enjoy the ride and see where it takes us.

I have come to enjoy Orton's story over the last few weeks. What is happening is over the last three or four raws Orton has been forced to prove himself to his peers and the audience who think very little of him, partly because he is a jerk and partly because he is considered a lower tiered superstar than his wrestlemania opponents and also because he has been given a angle-style push(winning matches through luck and brains). A couple of weeks ago, Cena challenged Orton to be a man and fight instead of trying to cut corners. Orton did and the two actually worked well that night and he earned Cena's respect as seen in the after-raw segment where cena congratulated orton. In Kayfabe terms, you could see that Orton was genuinely moved by cena's compliment, even though he did try to RKO him. And just the other night, at wrestlemania, Orton was not the odds on favorite going into the triple threat match- only 8% voted for him to win, so of course when he did win he was defiant and angry. Last night, on Raw, what I got from watching Orton's promo on Raw was that he was angry that everyone has overlooked him as a contender and a worthy challenger. By challenging him and calling him lucky, JBL has confirmed Orton's belief of their perception of him.
I know I rambled there but in a nutshell, Orton's storyline is basically a young man seeking acceptance and respect from others through anymeans nessecary.
As a side note, I thought it was a nice touch that JBL walked up to Orton, stated that he wanted Orton's belt and left before Orton could respond and even while Orton was speaking. This showed that JBL thought very little of any threat Orton could come up with. Orton's beneath him.

Honestly, I think JBL has more potential as a face than Orton, who should never attempt to be liked. Ever. Maybe they could have ring chemistry together, but I just hope they team up. I think you give JBL a mic to tear into heels, and the people will like him. IF he calls the WWE belt, the BLING BLING SIDESHOW Title. I'd mark

How long until we hear news reports of JBL attacking Orton in the shower only to get RKO'ed on the wet shower floor?

I like it. It's something different. JBL is a total asshole heel, so is Randy. Who knows where this will go Over the next few weeks I see Orton becoming more vicious, more cruel, in order to "prove himself" to JBL, who will then allign himself with Orton and the two will feud with HHH and Cena throughout the summer. Though if WWE doesn't have this planned, I'm very intrigued as to where a singles feud would go with both of them being heels.

I'm gonna enjoy this feud if it happens. I wan't it to end with JBL delivering the most vicious clothesline from hell the likes of which you have never seen.

Hunter may butt in to add a face element to the inevitable Backlash match.

I thought it could be a battle of the most boring promos leading up to Backlash, see how many buys they can get with it

I like it. I think the two of them would have a great match. Randy really impressed me with his WrestleMania showing (hell, all three should be given props) and JBL is a guy that looks like he'll kick your ass. Perfect matchup right there, even if they both stay heel.

the only reason JBL was champ for a year was because Triple H didn't want to work Tuesdays, truer words have never been spoken...theres no way JBL wins the title

While I think JBL is one of the best heels out there right now (he just knows how to make marks angry, I'm still feeling the side effects from lol'ing at the trash can toss to Hornswoggle at Mania) I think it'd be easy to turn him into a respected vertern type face and think they might end up going that direction since Orton was talking alot more heelish to me than JBL on Monday with his comments about it being the "Age of Orton" and bragging about beating all the people he has to retain his title. JBL just simply laid out the challenge.
I am very interested to see where this is going.

i dont know whether it was good or bad acting, but orton looked like he had no smurfing clue what was going on I think it's just Orton's natural look... His patented "damn, I was taking a nap backstage and the rushed me out there. where am I?" look. Orton is a good performer in the ring, but his reactions during promos are duller than dull...

Interesting that they seem to be going with heel vs heel. I'm not sure how well they would go together in an actual match, but it is an intriguing prospect. At least it's someone different, give Cena and HHH feuds that aren't about the WWE Title for a change.
