In upcoming interview on Live Audio Wrestling, Trish Stratus was asked what she thought about BunnyMania and the state of the WWE Divas in general: Interviewer: I'm looking at someone like Beth Phoenix, who's really a good in-ring worker, and she's in a Playboy Match at Wrestlemania. Any thoughts on that? 'Cause I think you and her in a match would be much more entertaining than what they're doing right now.
Trish: What is it called? BunnyMania? Okay, I think *raspberry* (laughs). I think there's a place for it, particularly because there's a deal with Playboy. There's a place for it, there always will be. But I really think they could always provide the other additional... Kind of what I did. I had the Women's storyline going for the Women's championship and then... Its like Beth is the champion and there's no Women's Championship match. I just...I don't like it one bit. I think she was trying to keep herself from burying the division too much, but the raspberry said it all. ;D The full interview will be on next week's show, for anyone interested.

I think there have been lots of times the womens title meant somthing. The only problem so far with it is when it means somthing there is only two women fighting for it and the rest of the division is fodder.
They have never been able to get past two wrestlers being important.
TNA was able to make a convincing three way womens match which I don't know has really happened in the WWE.

There's certainly a place for barking like a dog though. Well, in her defense, that was in a different era, and she wasn't exactly the women's wrestler we knew her to be most recently.

The title was important, up until last year when Candice won it. No offense to her, but as I recall, back on RAW during Melina's reign, she was on TV all the time and the belt was with her at all times. She and Mickie, both over, feuded over it and at Backlash they practically had the show stealer (Benoit and MVP being the only possible other winner).
Now it's worthless.

Trish was class over that - when Candice did Playboy, they had her do the crowd-pleasing skin-fest, and Trish defended the title against Mickie in addition to that. Shame that WWE can't do two women's matches now.

Shame that WWE can't do two women's matches now. I know it doesn't count for much, but at the very least, they gave the wrestlers the nod for the past Wrestlemanias.

You know, I was just pleased that Beth and Melina won the match. That's how low my expectations for WWE's division are.
I think part of the problem, though, was Candace getting injured. There would have been more of a storyline if she'd been in it.

Other highlights from Trish's interview:
- She's hosting a new travel show, called "Stratusphere", where she does local sports and sight sees. In one episode she does Icelandic "glima wrestling", which is sort of a mix between dancing and grappling. She also raced reindeer in Norway. Most of her activities revolve around some form of fighting.
- She came back for Raw's 15th Anniversary because it was a great "feel good moment" for Trish and Lita fans. The two have friends for years, and they discussed their segment ahead of time, and they were very happy with it.
- She is leaving the door open to return, but right now has a lot of other things going on.
- She hasn't watched Raw recently, but she keeps track on line. She likens it to watching a soap opera after missing it for a while.
- She has seen TNA, and loves the fact that "every girl works".
- She loved the Gail vs. Kong match, and says the distinct characters are what WWE lacks right now.
- She's opening a yoga studio. She wants to undo a lot of the misconceptions about yoga that the general public has.

There's certainly a place for barking like a dog though. That was actually a really good idea, because at the time, she pretty much was under Vince's control, and she ended up getting her revenge at Wrestlemania 17. I don't understand why that's still brought up. Whatever happened to the idea of trying to get heat. Anyway, it sucks, as Trish in her Wrestlemania matches had angles and actually had matches. Hell, her match with Christy Hemme, as horrible as it was, was simply just Trish beating the shit out of Christy, and Christy botching stuff. Again, the state of women's wrestling in WWE is a complete joke, and it's just sad. I've always noticed that outside Mickie James, they don't have any actual babyface female wrestlers. Jillian, Melina, Victoria, Katie Lea, Nattie Neidhart and Beth Phenoix are all heels, and Cherry's is just a valet (I'm talking about the women who got in not by the diva search or in Johnny Ace's bathroom reading material).

I read some of the online reviews of Wrestlemania 24 and the fans tended to have a rather dismissive view of the Women's matches, and this has been going on for a while now, not just with Bunnymania. It isn't like the WWE don't have the talent pool on its own, much less, talent scouts and other female wrestlers. I guess they don't think Women actually wrestling is not marketable, which is also my guess for why some of the other titles aren't considered as marketable either. I admit that while Maria is not Trish Stratus by any means, she could be carried to a decent match. Last week proved that; I was rather surprised by the women's match.

Because for the most part women's wrestling isn't marketable. Nor is men actually putting on a display of wrestling and trying to push that as the focal point to the casual fan. Most fans couldn't give a crap about a flying armbar or a bunch of headscissors. They just want to be entertained. If they want to see actual women's wrestling, get the Shimmer DVD's.

I think I understand what she means. There was a place for the no-talent Divas to strut their stuff for the pervs. There was also a Woman's wrestling storyline going on with her that was always at least taken more seriously. Trish/Mickie was the only feud of that year's Wrestlemania that I feel got the full Wrestlemania treatment as far as the build went. The match was good, too. Unforgettable Mickie James stuff, too. Even Jericho/Christian vs. Trish/Lita turned out to be way better than anyone had any right to expect. I miss Trish. EDIT: That bark like a dog bullshit was some of the most degrading shit I've ever seen on WWF tv. There was no excuse for it, especially with someone like Trish who has more to offer than just tits. It's such an embarrassment that it's actually a part of a documentary that I saw in a Women's Studies class- which is pretty ridiculous.

Looking back on it we can say that, but at the time she was nothing more than T & A. She wasn't active as a wrestler as she was in later years.
