According to this article posted on WWE.com: www.wwe.com/inside/industrynews/6901662Roddy Piper wrestled his last match on April 18, 2008. Roddy Piper has always been one of my absolute favorites, and in my opinion, the most versatile performer of all time. Whether he was a good guy, or a bad guy, Piper always brought an intensity to his character that was rivaled by few. I met him a year or so ago, and I can honestly say he was an incredibly kind and friendly man, taking time out to speak with everyone when a simple handshake and photo op would have sufficed. Thanks for the memories, Hot Rod.

So does that mean he is retired, or he isn't?
Either way, here's a nice little drawback to WWE's Industry News section... they don't seem to fact check any more than the newz sites they credit.

I'd like to see somebody like Raven or Punk who idolized the guy retire him. Piper has inspired more genius wrestling performers than any other man I know.

So Piper doesn't get a Flair-level sendoff?

I love Roddy. Put him on colour on Smackdown.
Give him a weekly Piper`s pit.
How sweet would that be?

Or it could mean that he wrestled his last match as in his most recent match.
My last house had a pool and smelt of badger.....doesn't mean it'll be the only house I'll have with a pool and a smell of badger but my last house did.
My last vacation was very warm...etc.

My last vacation was very warm...etc. "Tonight, April 18, will be the last time WWE Legend “Rowdy” Roddy Piper will set foot in a wrestling ring," no, i'm guessing this is it. if so then cheers for the memories roddy. without a doubt in my mind the best wrestler of all time, and someone i'll always respect and look up to.

If this is indeed true, then cheers and happy retirement Hot Rod.
I honestly think Piper doesnt get nearly the proper appreciation he deserves.

I'm doubting this because as said he didn't wrestle. Plus you think his retirement would be more then a random indies show appearnce. Also Piper I recalled in several interviews and myabe his book as well saying something on the lines that he never be retired from Wrestling.
Not saying it's not true but unless the sourse is from Piper himself and not some radio website. I won't believe it.
If true then I say Thank you for all the memories. You always be my all time favorite wrestler. Best wishes on his retirement.

So does that mean he is retired, or he isn't? Let's ask Ric Flair..... Ric: RETIRED??? HE'S ALREADY RETIRED! RETIRED??? HE'S ALREADY RETIRED! *punches self in the head repeatedly to draw blood then drops a knee on his wife's copy of Cosmo* WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

So Piper doesn't get a Flair-level sendoff? Good point. Or at least have Snuka slam a piece of hagis into the back of his head? (Ref. to the coconut ala Piper's Pit back in the 80's)

He ain't done yet. He's got two more years of the legends contract to fill. He's the WWE's flagship "legend" so he'll be back. I do know he wants to get back to making movies that people actually know and watch, so if this happens I'm guessing he will indeed retire.
