Welcome to the WrestleCrap Discussion Board! Below are a few questions you may encounter during your stay here. Should you encounter a problem not covered here, please feel free to visit the Ask a Mod thread and seek help there.
Q - Everyone's got these neat pictures on their posts - how can I do that?
A - This post has answers.
Q - OK, I figured out how to get my picture up, but now it looks funny. Why did it shrink?
A - The administrator has set a parameter that resizes larger pictures. This has been done to keep threads from being overpowered by large graphics. To avoid "significant shrinkage", you can size your picture down yourself before posting it.
Q - Why can't I have more than one picture in my signature?
A - Again, to avoid crowding the pages with large and numerous graphics, this rule has been put in place. If you have two pictures that you want, you can always paste them together in Photoshop (or the graphics software of your choice) and then use them as, technically, one graphic. Anyone not able to do this can contact a moderator for assistance.
Q - I made a post and there are all these words in there that I know I didn't write. What happened? What does "wax" have to do with what I was talking about? What do these replacement words mean?
A - This board has filters in place to weed out language that has been deemed unsuitable for use here. This includes a significant number of swear words and racial slurs. The replacement words are in place to discourage the original word's usage as well as protecting the younger members of this site. (We've had parents complain before about content.)
Q - What happened to the thread I posted in? It's locked/missing!
A - This could have happened for a number of reasons. The thread could have been a duplicate of another discussion already running. It may have been on a topic (such as politics, religion, explicit content) that we don't allow here. A flame-war may have erupted. Or, as happens on occasion, it may have simply run too long. Occasionally, when threads reach a certain length (around 30 pages, in general), they are locked and restarted. Shorter threads are easier to navigate and are good prevention for board crashes.
Q - Why can't I post a thread about politics or religion?
A - From experience, we've found that those are two topics that almost without fail wind up causing unrest on the board. To eliminate the potential for flaming, we've eliminated those as potential discussions.
Q - I had a link to another site in my post and a moderator removed it - why?
A - Links to other sites must also meet the requirements of this board's Rules and, as such, can't include things we don't allow here, such as swearing, explicit material, etc. Any links that lead to a webpage that contains them will be taken down by a moderator. In lieu of posting the link, you can always post non-linking descriptions (name, can be Googled, etc.) without incurring any problems.
Q - If I have a problem or question, how can I tell which moderators are on-line to help me?
A - At the bottom of the screen is a list of who is currently on-line, with moderators listed as "staff". You could also post your question in the Ask a Mod thread, as we all visit that when we're on the board. Moderators are listed in green, Administrators in red and retired mods in Hart Foundation pink.
Q - I see all those threads at the top of the boards with pushpin graphics. Why?
A - Those threads have been "stickied" at the top for a number of reasons. There may have been a glut of similar topics on one subject. There may have been something important that happened in that board's scope of topic (firing, death, etc). The moderators may have also had something they wanted everyone to see (notice, bulletin, etc.)
Q - Can I get MY thread stickied?
A - The best way to find this out is to Private Message (PM) a moderator. We try to keep the number of stickied threads manageable to prevent a whole page of them.
Q - How can I find out if my thread/signature/avatar is OK?
A - The best way to find these answers would be to contact a moderator BEFORE you take action.
