Braden Walker sounds like that rich kid at school who was somehow popular and it bothered you because he was so fat and unremarkable.
...well, there ya go.

If I recall correctly, Punk allowed WWE to copyright "CM Punk", so thats why he kept that. It that's true, I hope it doesn't come back to crack him in the skull(Fix as needed for Coletitude). If worse comes to worse he can change his middle name to "Punk" like Andrew Test Martin.

The thing is, you will never be world champion (YES YOU!) with a name like braden, it just doesn't fit.
I fully expect him to come out next week as Chris Walker.

Braden Hare. Rename Bourne to Ace Comb, and you have the newest tag team.

Then what's wrong with calling him... wait for it... RICH YOUNG? I know it's pretty 'out there' and crazy for a person to use their real name. You can't own the rights to someones real name. Its WWE's way of making sure these guys don't make money off their wrestling persona after they leave WWE. Pretty smart IMO. I'd like to know how Matt Hardy, Jeff Hardy, John Cena, John Layfield, Melina Perez, Mark Henry, Randy Orton, Mick Foley, Layla El, Lena Yada, Michael Cole, Mickie James (and any I forgotten) are all working in the WWE under their own real names (or real first name in the case of Melina). For that matter, how is CM Punk, Chris Jericho, and HBK working under assumed names that I would assume that they own?

With the exception of the Invasion angle year, WWE has always "rebranded" their superstars since they killed the territories. When they cherry picked the territories, a lot of guys keep their name because they had great recognition in their part of the country. Once Vince eliminated all competition expect WCW, he stopped keeping people's gimmick identical to their previous work because he wanted them to get over as a WWF character and not on the merits of past achivements. I'm not sure exactly why - maybe because if you like them you'll look up their previous work with the competition - I'm not sure. Or maybe it's simply because the original gimmick didn't fit well in WWE. But it often works out for the best - Cactus Jack bacame Mankind, Unabomb became Kane (eventually), Mean Mark became the Undertaker. Sure not every name change is also an upgrade, but it's not a new thing in WWE. And if they think the wrestler's name adds value, they'll keep it, like with CM Punk.
Atlas Ortiz is better than DaBone because it caters to Hispanics. Chris Harris isn't know to most people, so why have him keep the name? They obviously don't want him to seem as Southern as his TNA gimmick, but he still looks like he'll play well with fat guys. ;)Matt Sydal...two thoughts - first "Bourne" is catchy cause of the movies. Second, and this may be a least a little stupid, but I think they are concerned Sydal sounds like suicidal (sui-Sydal). In the past they would have been all over that (homicidal, suicidal, genocidal Sabu), but given the past year, I'm sure they don't want anyone to make that connection.

Funny story, Jeff and Matt Hardy actually switched names before entering the WWF - "The rainbow Haired Warrior" was born Matthew Hardy, and his brother was originally Jeffrey Hardy V1.0.
