it's not a 20 year curse. It is about people who were elected in a year ending with 0. Zachary Taylor was elected in 1848 He wasn't assassinated, Nobody tried to assassinate him and he wasn't elected in a year ending with zero. That's why he hasn't been mentioned. He died in 1850 so that's the excuse people use. but that has nothing to do with it. It's not about people who die in a year ending in zero.

As a Canadian I never deeply studied the American Presidents. But after reading up on Andrew Jackson, I agree he was pretty bad ass.

Teddy Roosevelt wasn't ALWAYS angry....in fact, he was a pretty jovial guy to hang around with, from all accounts.
I'd like to think that we could have a President as badass as T.R. again soon someday.....but unfortunately, Fedor Emelianenko cannot legally hold the office.

I never thought to look it up. I saw a pic of it on the cover of a punk band cd when I was younger. (don't remember who) I had no idea his head blew up like that. Nor did I know it happened inches away from his wife.

What we need is an age of Presidents with beards again, or at least mutton chops.

What we need is an age of Presidents with beards again, or at least mutton chops. Last president with facial hair was Taft, who was in office about 100 years ago.

Going in no particular order, ahhh screw it, I'll go in the order you posted them: 1: LOTS of things worth knowing happened before you were born....doesn't mean you shouldn't take interest in the past. 2: I'm American....but that doesn't mean that I don't care about things that have marked history in other parts of the world. 3: You shouldn't have had to look it up....the footage airs just about every year on the anniversary of the assasination. We Americans are morbid like that. I don't mean to come across as an ass, though. I am glad you're interested in it.....and I encourage you to learn more. On a Canadian note....you ever hear of the Halifax Explosion? That happened a HELLUVA long time ago, but it held the record as the largest man made disaster in North American history.....until September 11th, 2001.

I was gonna use that as an example of Canadian history that most Americans don't know of. LOL Yes I know of it. I live in Halifax I don't think you're being an ass. But in all honsety we don't learn much about details of American History here. We learned. JFK was shot in a motorcade by Lee Harvy Oswald. and that's about it

Many people are afraid of beards. I used to date a girl who was terrified of them.

Maybe it has to do with the invention of the razor. (I mean those little ones, not straight razors)
