Yeah I've like HHH not being all over smackdown, and not cause I'm a hhhater, but I wonder if that is booking or just because of his new kid.

I have an answer to my own question. If WWE booked the tv shows old school, we would have tag team champs, THAT WERE AN ACTUAL TAG TEAM! lol ya that would be good but I wouldn't hold my breath

They don't necessarily need to go to that format, but what the WWE could benefit from is realizing this: main eventers don't always need to main event.
If you've had a really important angle building up on TV regarding Kofi Kingston, for instance, I don't see the problem with having him defend the IC Title as the Main Event, because for THAT stretch of time, that was a main angle on the card. I wouldn't even care if it then meant you put some of the upper tier guys on in a big promo in the beginning and then a tag match or something at the 10PM slot, but fans don't always need to see Cena, etc. in the last minutes of the show.
The amount of matches they give away on free TV is pretty unreal, though. JBL and Jericho vs CM Punk with the World Title on the line ,for instance, could have easily main evented an attitude era PPV, and in fact, I think it did, with Kane and Taker in the tag slot and Austin defending the belt.
