Ok, yes, this is sort of a "counter thread". I was going to post this in the "What would WWE have to do to win you back" thread, but I figured that this should have a thread all to itself. And no, this is not an "attack" on the other topic, I just want to hear other's opinions.
For me to finally quit watching WWE, the writing would have to become overtly serious. Not in the "emphasizing the wrestler's passion and desire" sense, I mean like if they started treating it like an actual sport and not a spectacle. It wouldn't feel fun anymore.
Actually, I do stop watching from time to time. I stopped watching from like late 1998 to late 1999 (that's when I started liking Rock), from like mid-2003 to early 2004, and I didn't really watch the second half of 2006, as the whole DX thing got a little old. This forum's kept my fandom fueled, to tell the truth.

Like you said, if they treated it like a legit sport.
If they took away the illusion of having larger than life characters, such as Khali and Big Show, in order to bring in smaller guys for the said 'competition.'
If their show got canceled.
If they gave the belt to Spanky.
That's all I can come up with for now.

I stopped watching for a year and a half. I came back to watch Punk & Cabana.
If/when those 2 leave, I leave with them. Morrison is the only other person I care about.
Smackdown is awesome, but I'm never around to watch it. I'm a 20-year-old male on a Friday Night, why would I be watching TV??

I've been watching for far too long for just one thing to make me stop watching. The only way I would stop watching WWE is if they went out of business.

If the overall quality of the shows become as bad as Raw was in 2003. I DID stop watching then. I went back later and rewatched it all to see what I missed.
....should have just let it go.

If I ever find my self being to busy in life for whatever reason (working, travelling, getting laid etc) I'll stop watching. But as it is there are always times when I am bored and think "Oh raw was on last night I'll hit up daily motion to watch it."
Either that if I get truly bored by it, but I'm sure even then I'd stll check it out fairly often to see if it had improved.

There is only one thing that I can honestly think of, and it's something that I was really hoping would happen when the news first broke......
...finding out that Eddie Guerrero was a swerve.
It would have to be something of a magnitude of being that f***ed up.

Hornswoggle - WWE, World Heavyweight, or ECW Champion. Hell, Hornswoggle - Intercontinental or US Champion would do it, too.
I did stop watching when the WWF became the WWE and the brand extension first happened. Seems like I didn't miss much when I came back to it in '05.

I'd mark the f*** out if Eddie popped out of one of Taker's Caskets and declared "I LIED!!!" disclaimer: I am fully aware the eddie is dead and there is NO chance of this being a work. |
