after watching the movie "Zodiac" I've been doing some minor research on the case and I have to say it's one of the most interesting unsolved murder stories I've personally ever heard. I advise anyone who's into murder mystery stories to check this one out www.zodiackiller.com is a great source for info. there's also a ton of videos on youtube

The Zodiac case is what sparked an interest on serial killers for me. It amazes me that he managed to escape police and how there was little to no trace of him. I'm not praising him but you have to admit its just bizarre that he managed to escape

So much evidence points to him, but the main stuff they need they never got proof on (dna/handwriting). Lildude, I'm sorry to hear about your cousin. I read about the copycat as well.

Robert Graysmith, who's experiences is the basis of his books, has an interesting reasoning for the DNA test. That the DNA found on the stamps and letters, was the fact that at the time there were no DNA test, just test for chromosomes. So the evidence was already tampered. However, Allen would have no reason not to link the stamps and envelopes. Just another thing that where you think there's something and there's nothing.
What sparked my interest a few years ago was finding out that Scorpio of Dirty Harry was based on Zodiac and from there I read about it. The movies excellent by the way. Mark Ruffalo was great as David Toschi.

The movie really re sparked my interest, it would really be awesome if someone could finally crack that last cypher there's more than 1 unsolved cipher. But you made me think of an interesting thought. are people who saw the movie before looking up the case pre determined to believe it was arthur leigh allen just because the movie points that way? Or do they feel that way because of the all the coincidences? Could it be a man who knew arthur leigh allen very well and was trying to frame him? there's alot of facts that were skiped over. I also find it strange that when the police revealed they were doing DNA testing on the stamps and envelopes sent by Zodiac. That Don Chenney offered the information that he was asked by Allen to lick stamps and envelopes for him in the past. Is he telling the truth or was he preparing for questions on why his DNA would be found on the stamps?

As much as I love the graysmith books, there is quite a slant on Arthur Leigh Allen as the Zodiac. So much that I'm not sure it was him. Allen was a sick individual sure, but there's doubt in my mind.

Allen was a sick individual sure, but there's doubt in my mind. that's how I feel. The watch, the story of being at lake berryesa, the knife covered in blood found in his car. The fact the letters stopped each time he was in jail. It does point to him. But who's to say that the actual murderer knew him so well that he thought of all those things. (however the bloody knife and his day at the lake is a strange coincidence) He also mispelled the same words in home letters that the Zodiac did in his letters. But again somebody who knew him would know his spelling errors. Have you heard that some people think the Zodiac may be Ted Kaczynski (the unabomber)? this whole Jack tarrance discovery is quite strange itself.

Yeah, I know about the Unabomber theory, but I don't buy it. This Jack Tarrance thing is something fascinating. Either it's true or it's an elaborate hoax.

I don't buy the unabomber theory either. even though photos found from 1969 do match physical descriptions of the zodiac. The Jack tarrance threory is my fav so far. Problem is he was cremated at death and all they have is a pair of his dentures to run tests on. I say they test the knife to find out if it's human blood. they could also test the hood and find out if the material is even old enough to be worn by the Zodiac. plus the pictures. they should develope all the film looking for pics of the zodiacs 5 confirmed murders.

I'm sure that's what the FBI is doing, although I was uneasy watching that guy just keep messing with the hood like that.
