I once again want to thank the Cubs for doing what they needed to do. While taking the loss is hard, it was for the greater good.

So according to Terry Francona, Josh Beckett will end up getting the ball for Game Three. All in all, that keeps the big three (Beckett, Lester, Matsuzaka) together, albeit in a different order.

So wait, why did the Brewers fire thier manager when they were that late in a playoff race?
They're lucky it didn't get derailed.

I guess since my Braves aren't in it again, that I'll pull for the Brewers considering the Braves history in the town.

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Mets will retain manager Jerry Manuel in 2009.

The Tigers will fire pitching coach Chuck Hernandez and bullpen coach Jeff Jones following Monday's game.

According to SI.com's Jon Heyman, the Mets will retain manager Jerry Manuel in 2009. NY Mets 2008 Offseason "to-do" list: 1) Re-hire Jerry Manuel.2) Give K-Rod $80M in a bag with a "$" on it. 3) Toss Omar Minaya in the East River.

The Brewers fired Ned Yost because he lead the Brewers to a September collapse once again. That being said I think Ned Yost could have gotten this team into the Wild Card. Dale Sveum managed to turn things around and finish at 7-5 but the last 6 wins were against the Pirates, who the Brewers dominated all year and the Cubs after they had clinched home field advantage and thus had nothing to play for.

Agreed. I like that the Brewers tried something radical to shake things up, but a lot of their success down the stretch was direct result of either (a) lousy competition, or (b) playing a team that was trying to rest up for their own series. While I agree with the idea of making a change, I would've reconsidered had I known who the next-in-line was. It's bad enough they only have one legit starter for the postseason (and his arm is about to fall completely off), but now they have Dale Sveum leading the way. I've seen this guy in action. Milwaukee is in trouble.

I'll be cheering for the Cubs and Brewers in the playoffs. Unless they meet in the NLCS, then of course I will have to stand behind the Cubs. Always the Cubs.
And I know that the Mets resigned Minaya to a 4-year extension the other day, but why? What has his tenure given the Mets? Two late season collapses, yay for the Mets' faithful. Despite my disdain for them, this has to absolutely just kill you as a fan.

Since the Cubs all ready have set their rotation I'll guesstimate what the Brewers will do: Game 1- Jeff Supan, he wasn't great on Friday but he's one of two pitchers they have with playoff experence. Game 2- Sabatha, that way he can at least get 4 days of rest. Game 3- Either Manny Para or Gallardo. Game 4- Same thing. Game 5- Sabatha on short rest Put Dave Bush in the bullpen.

So wait, why did the Brewers fire thier manager when they were that late in a playoff race? They're lucky it didn't get derailed. They were in a terrible losing streak when Yost was fired and it was beginning to look like the Brewers were going to come up short again. Much blame was placed on Yost for not making last season. So firing Ned Yost was a premptive move on the part of Brewers management.

C'mon Tigers...
...I love Chicago (the town), I love the Cubs and want to see them win more than anyone else in these playoffs, but I am not joking when I say I hate the White Sox more than any other sports franchise, period.

Yeah, but why fire someone that close to a postseason? Wait and see if he DOES drop the ball, then make a decision. Even if they were on a losing streak, more than half the effort needs to come from the players themselves. And 7-5 is not that good a record. They probably could have done just as well if not better with Yost.

I still question the fact that the Indians were playing a game in which they could have eliminated the White Sox from postseason contention, yet they bench Shin-Soo Choo, their hottest hitter, and start Travis "Weak Grounder To The Right" Hafner, by far the worst hitter on the team. No wonder they couldn't beat Mark freakin' Buehrle.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Ben Sheets (elbow) "probably won’t be on the active roster for the division series."
