Did we ever find out if her boyfriend minded? I asked and he said "take a look at my girlfriend, she's the only one I got" and told me to put a peace sign up and put my index finger down.

KATY PERRY HERE!
MY FAVORITE PLANET IS THE SUN, IT'S LIKE THE KING OF PLANETS!
I haven't heard enough to form an opinion of her, and haven't really seen her enough to say if she's hot, since a pic can be misleading, so I just figured I'd drop in and make a Harry Carey joke.

I listened to her Fingerprints song on Stranded in Stereo 10. Not too bad, but there's a lot better stuff on the CD IMO.
Oh, and it's free from strandedinstereo.com

Acctuly her "Hot and Cold" song I think is much better then her way overplayed "I kissed a girl" So you can take your one trick pony line, and stick it brother. I agree. I really like that song.

At first, I tried to convince myself she wasn't worth the time based on the awfulness of "I Kissed A Girl." Then, I saw the video, and, long story short, I now own most of her discography (I still can't listen to that song without wincing, but that's why there's like nineteen other songs I have)
And, not to get "Emo", but a couple of them have even made me cry, so she's a good artist, IMO

Plus, can a bad artist really pose for a picture like this:

Reminds me a lot of old school Rose McGowen in that pic. That's a plus.

i appreciate the fact that she's a songwriter and whatnot. but she annoys me to no end. she's definately marketed at all the "i'm so different just like all my friends" crowd.

I think her songs are her look are cute, and I don't have a problem with her, but it kind of seems phony to me.
I mean, does she look like the kind of girl that has trouble getting a boyfriend because she's just like "one of the boys"? Like I said, it's enjoyable pop music, but it does seem pretty contrived and fake.

That song's decent right there. Honestly she should have used a song like this to kick off her career, not "I Kissed a Girl". Too many people now are going to cast her as a one hit wonder and not give her a chance by listening to her other stuff.... even though her other stuff is likely way better.

I think she will be here for a while rather than a one hit wonder.

Those people aren't buying her music anyway? The hell does she care what they think? I'm not a fan, haven't really heard much of her, since I listen to talk radio, but why cater to people who aren't even your fans?

What he was saying was she should've released that song instead to maybe garner more fans instead of coming out with "I Kissed A Girl" as the kickoff single because a lot of people have her written off as a one hit wonder and won't give any of her new music a chance based on their hate of the first single....

Yep, that is indeed what I meant. Although Bradley, I do see what you are saying too, and it makes sense for bands that have been around for a while. Take Aerosmith for example. They are already made at this point, so they could put out a CD that caters to only their existing fans, and it would do just fine since they have a huge fan base. But since "I Kissed a Girl" was Katy Perry's first single, she really didn't even have a fanbase at that point -- but that first single is critical in kickstarting a career. Since a lot of people think "I Kissed a Girl" is overly gimmicky or whatever, many people have probably already written her off.

If she comes out with a second album in the next year or so I think she could be legit artist mainstream. Hopefully she doesn't turn into Pink.
