Wasn't the movie just a high class clip show?
Either way, I loved the show, never caught the movie.

There ya go, the Heathcliff opening! I still say it sounds like Kenny Loggins is singing the theme song. I'm sure that's probably not the case, but damn if it doesn't sound like him.

I always loved how Heathcliff would have grown men shaking in their boots when he showed up.
There was a scene where he was just running down the street and everybody who saw him dove out of his way.

I always wondered how come you never saw RiffRaff and Heathcliff in the same place at the same time yet they both always hung out with those 3 other cats Hector, Wordsworth, and Mongo?

It was sung by Scatman Crothers You're thinking of the first Heathcliff cartoon, that was produced by Ruby-Spears and aired on ABC at the very beginning of the 1980s. The later (perhaps, more popular) Heathcliff cartoon aired in first-run syndication and was produced by DiC (who also did "Inspector Gadget" just to name a few).

I love Heathcliff. I have one of the $4 DVDs with like four episodes on it called "Fish Tales" and another ep from a box of Lucky Charms that's my fave episode... where Heathcliff does the cat food commercial. It also features the kid watching pro-wrestling at the beginning of the episode.
I LOVED the Cadillac Cats too. That's why I think the Heathcliff cartoon was vastly superior to Garfield & Friends. I couldn't stand U.S. Acres. Plus, Heathcliff was always edgier. Sort of the Warner Brothers to Garfield's Disney.
My sister got the first season on DVD the other year for $10 at a Dollar General. One day my nephews were down, I popped it in when they were arguing over the TV and they loved it.

I thought the only differences in the two were a few line changes.

The voice of Heathcliff = Mel Blanc. The greatness alone with that factoid is massive. Heathcliff and the Cadillac Cats...who never met, to my memory. You think they'd meet up in such a small town, at least one time.
Do you think it's possible that Riff Raff might have been Heathcliff's "Tyler Durden"?
"I am Jack's catnip."
