You know, a friend of mine was carping and complaining about how YOUNG Ozzy appears in the film...and I had to point out to him that....you know....that's kind of the point. He's much younger, faster, and stronger than Rorschach and Nite Owl....hell, the youngest out of ALL of them. So they had to cast an actor who would bring that out, against the rest of the cast.
He still doesn't get it, and he's read the book now, to boot.
*Shrugs*

Plus don't forget, he retired early, so there's not near the wear and tear on the body that the older heroes would have

Ozzy looks to young in the same way everyone look to young (and good) though, except Comedian, who seems almost perfect. At least give Nite-Owl back his gut!

Also, since this movie spans quite a bit of time, I'd imagine it's easier to take younger actors and make them look older than to take older actors and try to de-age them, or go with two sets of actors, or whatever. All told, I'm really looking forward to this movie. Everything I've seen for it has been quite phenomenal, and I'm not the kinda guy to nitpick little details so long as the heart and soul of the story is still there. Then again, I've only read Watchmen once, and it was last year sometime, so maybe I haven't drank enough Kool-Aid to get really angry or whatever.

I've drank a lot of the Kool-Aid.. so much so that I was firmly in the ' don't film it' camp.. everything I've seen looks really good so far.
But as you mentioned, I'm not generally that nitpicky.

To be honest, I never was a big fan of the squid ending. And it certainly would not have looked good on screen, or made sense unless you were a hardcore fan. So I'm just gonna say I trust Zack Snyder. He seems like he knows what he is doing and is very self-aware, unlike all the other directors who have touched graphic novels.

I was firmly in the "don't film it camp" as well, but after V For Vendetta (which I felt was better than the source material [sue me]), and 300, I feel that they can finally film this and have it be just as impressive visually, and story wise as the comic book. The problem was always going to be Hollywood wanting to rape the source material, but you have a director that has stated wanting to make the best translation possible so I have high hopes for it. I personally believe that changing the squid ending works better because I thought it was stupid in the comic book. Thus I'm eager to see what they came up with.

All I wanna hear is Bob Dylan and the rest will be irrelevant.

Possible Spoiler
That new ending replaces the squid in my nightmares.

My biggest worry about the changed ending is that it won't carry the same message or it just won't make sense (Dr. Manhattan going rogue would be weird as A. The US and USSR wouldn't be able to unite against a common alien threat and B. Dr. Manhattan could just outright destroy the world if he wanted to. After all, "There is a God, and he's American.").
I have faith that Snyder and Hayter will do good, but I'll be worried about the ending of the movie until I actually see it for myself.
