What do you think of him?
I got through watching XL for, roughly, the 200th time last night lol & it's still as funny as ever. Anyone seen the new show?
I used to think he was just some sweaty comedian when he was on the UK Saturday Night Live years ago, and always thought Peter Kay was funnier before I watched a bit of one of his shows and became hooked onto him. He is fecking hilarious!
I checked the last few pages for a thread about him, with the new DVD out I thought it'd be worth bringing it up. If it has been brought up recently, direct me there!

I think he`s the UK`s funniest stand up comedian today.
You ever see his routine at 'Comic Aid' a few years ago. I`m sure it was a short notice deal so most of the guys performing were unprepared and unfunny (Ardel O'Hanlon I`m looking at you!) then Lee Evans came out and showed them all how it`s done.
A very funny guy.

The first time I ever saw him was in Mouse Hunt with Nathan Lane. I couldn't even tell Lee is British. He has a perfect American accent.

^ he's good in Something About Mary too. The World of Lee Evans is a comedy sketch show, with each sketch last about 15 minutes, and that's funny too so it's not just his stand up work I WILL seek out the comic aid thing though, And what? Father Dougal wasn't good?

I thought this was going to be about the Buffalo Bills' wide receiver.
I haven't seen Lee Evans in anything since 2000, but I quite enjoyed his work in The Ladies' Man, and he was the best thing about There's Something About Mary.

Can't say I'm a fan of his, but I don't hate him, either. I guess it's not my kind of stand-up...well that and the fact I always fear he'll collapse on-stage with all the moving around he makes.

I always cry with laughter after watching his stuff. Probably one of my favourite comedians as well as Jimmy Carr, Russell Howard and Michael McIntyre.

I like Jimmy Carr when he was on QI, but I didn't like his stand up show that was on DVD at all. What comedians do you like, stand-up wise, murisaki?

In all honesty and I dont want this to sound bad but I have yet to find an English stand up comedian that I find funny...The style, delivery, and approach just seems so vastly different then the stuff im accustomed to here in the states...

He IS underrated (wide receiver) And don't forget, he is the former Wisconsin Badger that the Packers could have picked up, but Mike Sherman wanted an undersized receiver who didn't do crap in college ... and I think that only one of them is in the league, now. I admit, I haven't seen much of what he's done in the pros (not a lot of Bills games get on the telly in my area), but he was top notch in college.

Well he's easily the most overrated Comedian in the UK by far, I mean he's funny and all but there's better.I prefer Stewart lee, Mark Steel and Frankie Boyle

To each his own, we have a different sense of humour here, especially when it comes to comediens I find. Love Lee Evans, way better than that overrated Peter Kay (GARLIC...BREAD, CHEESE...CAKE, MEGA LOLZ!!!).

I can see where your coming from no doubt, man, because I've watched Dane Cook stand up recently and thought it was pretty bad, same with the new Chris Rock stuff. I can still watch Richard Pryor, and either of the Eddie Murphy big stand-up DVDs and laugh my head off though, but the new generation I'm not all that big on, Which, as you say, is probably because its different to the stuff I'm accustomed to in the UK. You have to take into consideration Lee Evans very rarely appears on TV anymore. He does his stand up more than films and plans to retire after this tour I believe. Guys like Franky Boyle, Russel Howard have Mock The Week to showcase them a lot. Its almost like Lee Evans can sell hundreds of thousands of tickets just for what he's done in the past, and you have to respect that, if you don't think he's funny. Peter Kay is funny, his TV work & his stand up. I can still watch him and laugh, but I find Lee Evans a lot funnier. Just got the new DVD, an early Christmas present lol, going to watch it tonight yay!

i'm surprised he didn't make it much bigger after there's something about mary I think that was his choice. The part he plays in Mary was very well credited that it is surprising he didn't become full-time Hollywood. His stand-up is also massive in England but doesn't seem to become as popular in the US, where it seems he is remembered fairly well for his acting. Has anyone seen Freeze Frame? I don't remember wether reviews were good or bad so I'm gonna seek it out tonight, it has a feeling of One Hour Photo with Robin Williams in. I watched the new Stand-up DVD Big in the O2 last night, and I was impressed. It's not as funny as XL but its better than any other UK stand up in my opinion, and you can't help respecting the man and giving credit where it's due, he sold out his show to over 500,000 people!!

He's hilarious, went to see his new show in Brighton last month and it was worth the money....well until he started singing at the end.
I want a comedian who takes stuff that happens in my everyday life (Cars, Tesco, coats where the zip breaks!) and makes it funny. I find Peter Kay funnier but Lee Evans is still great.

I like the songs off the new show. Saying that, the songs from his last shows have been almost serious compared to the stand up part. They also have a tendency not to fit in with the show, and can guarantee more than half the audience in the O2 arena didn't get half the things he was singing about in the last song, which takes away from the performance for those who didn't get it.
