I've often wondered this, what's your opinion? I think it's not personally.

Not really. I've heard it used freely on Nickelodeon shows like Hey Arnold and Ren & Stimpy.
The LATER R&S episodes.

It's watered down now. Maybe at one point it used to be a bigger deal, but now it's practically harmless. Just like "Sucks"

When I was in the fourth grade, a teacher yelled at me for saying "crap." It's a very not nice word.

It comes form the name of the man who invented the toilet. John Crapper. Seriously. But then I guess it doesn't really answer the question.

I don't think so, should you say it out loud in a nice restaurant or something, probably not, but I wouldn't call it "cussing"

It may have been once, but not anymore. It's one of those words that was vulgar but eventually stopped being so.

Nah, it's in the safe zone below becoming a swear word. It's a balance between still being edgy and attitudinal, and still not being a cuss. Of course, I still wasn't allowed to say it growing up, but hey.
Then again, my parents also told me that "shut up" and (I kid you not) "dead" were bad words. So it's all arbitrary.

According to a certain demigod-ish being, there's 7 words which are true cusswords, and "crap" sure ain't one of them.

I used to think "guts" was a swearword, believe it or not. Thank goodness i stopped thinking that before the nickelodeon show hit the airwaves.

It is according to Rock Band. I started the band "The Wrestlecrappers", and it wound up being "XXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXX" when Deadpool joined me to play.
Yup...
My mom also yells at me when I say it. I'm very devout, and try not to swear, but apparently even "crap" is a swear word to some people...

I accidentally blurted out the word C**t in front of my Ma today. I thought she was about to behead me.
