I'm kinda nitpicking here, but why would you close RAW with the three guys from the Smackdown main event brawling when they have another show to build their match?

I thought it was a tremendously strong show, I just would have closed it with Jericho and Cena.

If not even because Jericho and Cena should have closed on their show, because I bet after Hardy/H on Smackdown we see the same three man brawl over again.

Fair enough, but can't you have them brawl through the arena leaving fans to want to tune into Smackdown to see what happened to them. At the same time leaving Jericho and Cena to brawl in the ring hard selling the PPV main event. Isn't the ultimate goal to sell PPV's?

"I like ya, not much, but I like ya" [/Austin] I'll be perfectly honest with you. I respect your opinion on things probably more than anyone else on this board. Dead serious. Even if our tastes in wrestling may differ. I find you to be the most knowledgeable person on these boards. You're a good man, sir.

They don't need to put a lot behind him to have his base buying, so no need to really hype up his match. Plus after each guy got the better of the other in the last few weeks, you really need that ambiguity going into the PPV. Not since the MNW days. Hell, what they gave away for free tonight could easily be a PPV but, they used it to hopefully pop RAW's rating.

Ratings aren't as important to them now that they aren't in head to head competition as they once were. They still pay attention to them, and obviously want the highest rating possible, but PPV buyrates are where their money is made. And tonight while the matchups were PPV quality, the matches were anything but. Ever see a Champion vs. Champion PPV match end in a five minute DQ?

Outside of the ending to that, most of the matches were PPV quality tonight, IMO (Not counting Haas/MVP) and really that match as going good until the end and had their not been a PPV this week, it might have ended differently. I know that it plays into the "PPVs are more important theory" but, by going off the air with Trips it seems like they are trying to get people to Smackdown instead. Also, look at the DYK stuff for more as to how much they value the ratings, every week seems to have one where they are gloating about being number one in a certain demo or better than something else. Now with that said, I do think they are coming back around to making PPVs more important. Hell, the returns of Cena, Edge, Rey, Taker and, Triple H all happened there with no appearance by them on TV until then. I guess what I am trying to say is they are trying to serve two masters here by keeping ratings up so USA/SCI-FI/MYNTV are happy and keep paying them but, also drive up PPV buys to make more money off of them right.

The key to why the SmackDown main event hijacked the end of Raw lies with how the SD brawl ended... you-know-who alone in the ring, standing tall over the retreating Hardy and Edge. A certain son-in-law probably wanted the end of Raw to be "mine, all mine".

None of the matches went longer than 10 minutes. If thats PPV quality I don't know what that says about your standards. And I'm usually the guy that argues the in ring stuff isn't all that important.
