I think the random comedy segments should be kept for the three hour Raws and Wrestlemania, I do like them but they're not something that should happen every week. The one thing I do hate is Big Dick Johnson, he has no place on my screen. I find Big Dick Johnson hilarious. I would book him to go over MVP at Smackdown, I think it would be HILARIOUS, with MVP gloating how he is finally gonna end his losing streak because this is gonna be a piece of cake...and then Big Dick Johnson suprises MVP with a rollup and dances as he wins. You are not a real poster.

God no. BDJ has no place on TV. And were that to happen, MVP might as well retire. All credibility gone.

Oh, and by Nnatural weird, I meant as a consequence of a storyline, not just random weird segments.

It's not like wrestling is meant to be SERIOUS BIZNEZZ anyways. It's just entertainment. And I would prefer it if my entertainment was entertaining. I'm all for some comedy. If it's actually funny. The random pop up guys are just lazy. And anti-funny. That would depend on the person, I get a laugh out of those segments and the crowd seems to like them as well, so you can probably guess who WWE is going to cater to.

Oh, and by Nnatural weird, I meant as a consequence of a storyline, not just random weird segments. These are the funnys that work. For instance: "I just kicked Stan" it was a consequence of Shawn being wacky and crazy, they didn't create the situation just for Shawn to kick a guy.

As for me, I think they're alright, as long as they're done sparingly. I loved the Wrestlemania random segments they have done since WM 22, with Booker and Sharmelle backstage, to this year with Snoop, Foley, and Festus.

Natural weird also gave us Snitsky's poem, Tomko's No, and "I just kicked Stan."
And included very little spontaneous dancing. We are not children. We do not need spontaneous dancing in everything for it to be funny.

We do not need spontaneous dancing in everything for it to be funny. Of course not, but remember it only takes up a small portion of time as well. For what it is, I don't find it particularly offensive, but maybe tedious at times. And as for that 'children' remark, I'm sure kids love it, and they are targeting kids just as much, if not more than, they target the adult audiences.

Natural weird also gave us Snitsky's poem, Tomko's No, and "I just kicked Stan." Eddie luridly reading bedtime stories about his sexual deviancy to somebody else's son overshadows the good of natural weird.

So I just heard about the segment that spurred this thread on. It is the definition of f***ing forced. Why were the divas decorating a christmas tree in the back of the arena DURING the PPV, which they would be leaving not more than 3 hours later! This is such an unnatural set-up, ugh

I'll put it this way. I've ONLY been watching RAW in hopes of seeing Goldust....so the last two weeks have pretty much sucked.

I understand what the original poster is stating, and I agree with it. She isn't saying she has a problem with weird comedy skits. She has a problem with *forced* weirdness.
I can appreciate a good "WTF" laugh as much as anyone. And WWE certainly has provided that over the years. But it seems that sometimes WWE just trots out its comedy characters with absolutely no rhyme or reason, just for the sake of trying to create wackiness. But there's a huge difference between natural wackiness and manufactured wackiness. Natural wackiness is where a writer takes a bunch of characters and writes a humorous situation for them. Manufactured wackiness is where Writer A says "I wrote this skit, but it isn't very funy. It's lacking" and Writer B says "Well, at the end of the skit we will randomly have Funaki, Goldust, Boogeyman, and Ron Simmons come out for a yodeling contest. Those guys get laughs."
Hopefully my post makes sense... I have a feeling I may be confusing things more though ;D

Basically the wrestling equivalent of canned laughter...or is that not what you meant at all?

Basically WWE will put on a skit and they want to brand it "comedy skit". So whereas a sitcom will interject canned laughter so the viewing audience will know when to laugh, WWE interjects Ron Simmons so that their audience will know when to laugh.
