To me, the 90's can be summed up as the decade that the top three characters in comics were all nearly ruined by horrible ideas: Ugh. We don't talk about Azrael Batman in the Palace of Wisdom.

Dont forget the avengers and their phase where they all wore those jackets (though that was probably marvel trying to see if avengers jackets would sell. I think we all know the answer to that question), even Captain America IIRC (though at least it led to Crystal dumping that horrid yellow jumpsuit).

the only good thing about Image was Wildstorm. and even that didn't get good until Warren Ellis was given free reign to do whatever the hell he wanted.
the rest was like a muscle covered in bullet belts punching you in the face and angsting about it.

I guess there was a logical enough reason behind it, but it was still pretty silly.

Dude, I have a lot of these books. They are what not only got me back into comics but revealed to me my true fanboy nature that I wear proudly to this day. Still, IMHO, the worst comic from the last decade of the 20th century is still miles ahead of the best from the first decade of this one. From Catwoman becoming a mommy to the death of Captain America to Spider-Man selling his soul to the devil, I'm kinda glad I cut myself off from my slot at the comics shop at the end of the 90's. [Of course that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.]

I think it was pretty awesome, myself.
It was a little ridiculous and over the top, but it was a fun read.

[Of course that's just my opinion. As you said though, that's just this dude's POV.

I liked the Nightfall saga Me too, it, the whole 'Quest and 'End storylines dragged on a bit long perhaps, but by and large were quality throughout, and really accomplished what they wanted to. You were SUPPOSED to want Azrael out of the suit and Bruce back.

What do I remember about 90's comics....let's see....
Bad girls with big boobs, the Clone Saga, Batman got his back broken, Superman died, the Ultimate Warrior raped Santa Claus, Spawn was still cool, every event issue had like, ten or twelve different variant covers to it, Wolverine was only in like, four titles a month, ummmm......oh and Image comics was kicking ass and taking names.

...Wolverine was only in like, four titles a month... Man, those were the days. Now, 3 different X-titles, a mini-series (Original Sin), X-Force, Avengers, a movie... "Overexposure" ended a long time ago for Wolvie...there's not even a word for what he's doing now.

Hell, Miz and Morrison don't even get as much time as Wolverine does, and they're on all three shows every week these days!

I think, if there's ONE character who needs to "die" and go away for at least a month, it's the furry little Canuck. Don't get me wrong, he's cool in small doses, but as omnipresent as he is, he's worn out his welcome times 1000.

God, Marvel needs to take Wolverine out of all the titles he's in and put him in his own book for a long while. It would make things more interesting.

Seriously, he does need to be killed off for a while.
If I've counted right, he's currently appearing in NINE books. NINE.
